I transcoded a BD film with subs into a mkv with makemkv.
Playback is fine. But the subtiltes don't show up.
I use MPC-HC, Haali Splitter installed.
Any suggestions?

I came across this link just yesterday.
Correct me, if I get it wrong:
For now it's possible to mux bd subtitles into the mkv container, they won't work though.
The only or better one working solution is to convert them to .sub/idx format.
Someday it should be possible without converting.
Did I get it right?
What exactly prevent the bd subtitles to be displayed in a mkv container?
The splitter?
Thank you for the help.

AFAIK, no DirectShow decoder knows how to handle (=read and display) them. VSFilter surely doesn't support them, and ffdshow neither.

But when I play the a mt2s file containing subtitles with MPC-HC, the player diplays the subtitles, like it should.
I thought the mkv container is made for combining all sorts of streams. Which bit has to be modified to ensure proper playback of blu-ray subtitle?
Again my question:
The muxer, the splitter, filter, all together?
Perhaps somebody can clear it up?

@Hobojobo But when I play the a mt2s file containing subtitles with MPC-HC, the player diplays the subtitles, like it should.
Since I'm not personally familiar with MPC-HC, I'd ask you:
1) Can you turn the subtitles on and off, or are they burned as a permanent part of the video?
2) Are you playing an individual .M2TS file, or a complete BluRay "package"?

I can turn them on and off (Navigation->Subtitles)
2) Are you playing an individual .M2TS file, or a complete BluRay "package"?
It is a single m2ts file of a blu-ray.

I can tell you that if you follow the instructions at the link I earlier provided to you, you should be able to create an MKV with subtitles - and the subtitles WILL play under VLC, as well as under the "J River Media Center" (according to a member of the MakeMKV Forum).
Another posting there indicates that, "The latest ffmpeg already has a working PGS decoder so it is a matter of time for player's support."

Thank you for your effort and pointing me in the right direction.
I will keep trying it and post my success, hopefully. :)
