View Full Version : Subtitle tool for synchronizing with mkv

I used Windows XP for years, and for synchronizing subs i always used subsync, and the last few years echosub, because its so easy to use.

But now i installed Windows 7 and echosub only shows a black background, so i can't use it anymore. The movie works when i play it with vlcplayer/windows media player/media player classic/mpcplayer, so codecs seems installed.
Subtitle Workshop also shows me a black background when opening mkvs.

So it seems i have two problems: 1) In need of a newer synch application, and 2) a way to show the movie instead of a black screen.

Can anyone help ?

Afterwards i can mux the subtitles into the mkv with mkvtoolnix.

You can use Subtitle Workshop (2.51) if you install ffdshow and turn it on for raw videos. :)

EDIT: Btw, it's a SW bug... http://www.urusoft.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=5812

Well, that didnt really work.

But now i tried to uninstall ffdshow, and reinstall, and uninstall again, and reinstall stuff and now it seems to atleast open it, but playback isnt smooth at all.

I wonder why no one has picked up with a nice subtitle tool. Subtitle workshop is dead, subsync is dead, echosub is dead... :scared:

Why don't you give Aegisubs a spin?
