Hello, congrats for your application.

I have a small GUI bug. I use Win7 with mediun (125%) fonts. In this case, there are some visual bugs. See as example last line here:

I guess it is about DCT Decimation, but i can't read it really.

Also, in "Tune Film", AFAIK, psy trellis should be 0.15, not 0.2. It can be put manually, but i think it would be better if it was the default...


And a request please (unless i missed something). An auto-crop feature.

About the name, FFCoder is good i think. If you find another one, you should find something not too distant, because people will get disoriented. I will throw "FunCoder","FreeCoder","FluxCoder" just as example.

There is an auto-crop feature. Select the 'Use Avisynth' checkbox in the main window, go to the options and add the 'Borders | Remove Borders (AutoCrop)' script.

Oh thank you! I would never suspect that! And a feature request. Is it possible to create the report-log in real time? I use 2 pass encoding and i find useful the final ratefactor and SSIM at the end of the 1st pass to judge if the bitrate is enough. When i see that i didn't hit a good finalratefactor and SSIm i abord at the 1st pass and re-encode from start. With FFCoder i can only see a report at the end.

I have a problem encoding to mp4 with H.264 and Nero AAC. This (http://www.mediafire.com/?jg26nxmar7u5jf3) is a sample from result. Both video and audio are bad, I don`t know why. (I run win XP SP3, fffcoder 1.2.0.6). Can somebody help me? I really liked this software but with the newer versions I can`t work.

I get this error with 1.2.0.6 when I run a mkv/mp4 conversion on Win 7 x64 (preparing step):
[ERROR] Unable to open temporary AVS script!

Edit: I noticed that the error occurs when the file is larger that 4GB, no matter what is the type of container. This is what I did:
I created a 5GB MKV container with mkvmerge, based on a .mp4 video I have. Then, I splitted the new .mkv file in 2 parts, first at 10MB and the second with the rest of the movie. The first file encoded fine with the 2 pass HQ presets while the second one failed with the above error message.

Related to the name change, stick with FFCoder, is a great name. :)

It looks like FFmpeg is unable to decode the DTS audio track in the 4GB mp4 file.
This is causing the encoding to fail.
If you disable the audio then the encoding should work fine.

I'll fix the issue with DTS audio in the next update.

Q1: Where do I place it in? Which folder under FFCoder?

i have the same problem before, then i re-download
the package again, the problem now solved.
i'am using version 1.2.0.6, and neroAac working fine.

Feature request.

Would love to be able to select bitrate by "Bits Per Pixel", with perhaps a cap on maximum
bitrate, so allowing to keep a standard bitrate per pixel and not having to bother getting
the calculator out to figure it out myself. I know CRF is constantly being given as the
preferable mode, but no amount of telling me is gonna make me want the BPP any less.

The 'Add DVD' option in the File menu has been simplified. Now only the VIDEO_TS folder needs to be selected.
Fixed the window layout for systems with large font sizes. Some of the controls were cut-off or hidden from view.
The encoder log can be opened even while the file is being encoded (Double-click or use the right-click menu).
x264: Corrected psy-trellis option to 0.15 for "Tune Film"
Fractional quantizer values can be selected for all video codecs
Files can be dragged on the 'Add Combined' window

Notes:

MPlayer2 will rebuild its font cache when you run it for the first time. It takes about a minute, but it will cause FFCoder to stop responding while the cache is being rebuilt. To avoid problems please do the following (you need to do this only once):

Add a video file in the main window
Right-click on it and select the 'Play File' option.
Wait for about 2 minutes for the cache to be rebuilt (till the video starts playing)

Produces 2MB encodes when ripping a bluray with settings for 4000KBps.
I used it on a a 64bit Windows 7.
Some error I think.
For any configuration, it's the 2MB output and is it because 64bit?

It looks like there is an error in the AVS script that was created for encoding the DVD. After adding the DVD, right-click on the file and select the 'Play File' option. This will display the error message.

The DVD encoding options provided by FFCoder are very simple. It encodes only the first audio track in the DVD. I'll be adding more options later.

I don't use Zonealarm pro 9.3, but can you add it to exceptions list? Most firewall software have customizable options

It looks like the selected bitrate is too low. Try increasing the bitrate or the buffer size.

Proc_manager is a process manager, just like TaskManager
(CTRL SHIFT Esc). Just like TaskManager, Proc_manager can
eg change task priorities, kill a task etc. It is the killing part,
that will be upsetting ZA, but Proc_manager is no more malware
than Taskmanager. It might be worrying if you found an unexplained
copy of proc_manager on your machine, but really, it's just
a tool that could be exploited by the nefarious, just like
a butter knife could be used for murder.

I am unable to use your application because the temp folder setting won't be saved. My temp folder is only couple of GB big. If I set it and change it, during the conversion the old temp folder is used. Won't be saved either after running FFCoder as admin.

Installed 1.3.0.1 but About says 1.3.0.0 BETA.
Windows 7 64 bit

When I tested it with a small sample the result was good so now I want to test it with a big DVB-S2 Recording. Many application struggle with the files I have, out of sync or unable to read, even the software that is delivered with my TV card can't open the files :cool:

Some DLL files were missing in the Setup package
-- js32.dll (Required by MP4Box)
-- DGAVCDecode.dll, libavcodec.dll (Required for encoding MTS/M2T/M2TS files using Avisynth mode)
When a VOB file was added (in AVS mode), the video was automatically cropped and deinterlaced. This will not be done anymore. Cropping and deinterlacing must be done explicitly by setting filters.
The provided x264 presets were loaded incorrectly. The Initial Buffer Size for 2-pass encoding was set to 0.9% instead of 90%. This was causing some 2-pass encodings to fail. This issue is fixed.
MPlayer2 does not support playback of Avisynth files. As a result the video preview was not working in the 'Trim' window. Mplayer2 has been replaced with an older MPlayer version which can play Avisynth files.

I found the "problem". I assumed that I could past/edit the folder path in the textfield because it was editable. When I used the browse button to choose the folder it worked.

So either disable editing of the textfield or fix it so you can also type the path in the textfield.

I am not able to reproduce the issue on my PC. I tried encoding from many BluRay/MKV sources with the same settings but I am not getting the same error.

Things to try:
-- Try using an older version of x264 from here (http://www.mediafire.com/?y7kiows9a4lnl6l)
-- Try setting the maxrate and buffer size options to 0 (not set)
-- You can also post the issue in this forum (create a new thread). The x264 command line settings are given in the encoder log.

Is this happening for all 2-pass x264 encodes? Try encoding a simple (non-bluray, low bitrate) file and let me know if it fails.
