Do you guys know of any effective tools for post-OCR spelling/grammar correction? I have been using SubRip and SupRip for DVDs and Blu-Rays, but they both have trouble with some discs/subtitles. Most of the problems come from words being split apart or two words joined together.
Thanks in Advance!:thanks:

I OCR to SSA format and then use the spellchecker in SubStation Alpha.

Effective, yes, but not very efficient.:)
@manono
Sounds like that will work well, thanks!

Try the latest version of Gaupol (http://home.gna.org/gaupol/).
Tools -> Correct Texts...
Then you have these options at your disposal:
- Correct common errors
- Join or split words
- Remove HI texts
- Capitalize texts
- Break lines
Tools -> Check Spelling
To check the subtitles against a dictionary.
And if you have problems with words joined together, I would first try to play with the SubRip OCR options:
Advanced OCR Setup -> Space Width Setup

Use Subtitle Workshop. Load the subtitle and Select Default OCR on the left panel if the subtitle is in English. Then Press Crtl+I, it will find all errors like:
Lines longer than 45 characters.
"I" > "l" conversions.
"..." issues.
"One line with "-" dashes.
and so on.
On Find Error tab, press "Settings" and see which errors should be checked and fixed. You can also strip the Hearing Impaired parts with this tool.

Hey guys, sorry for not replying to this; I honestly checked out the tools you mentioned and then forgot about the thread.
Both of the tools you mentioned have saved me countless hours of work with the subtitles, thank you for suggesting them!:thanks:
