View Full Version : Creating New Subtitles and then Placing Them on the DVD

I want to rip the subtitles from a DVD, so that I can translate them to another language. After that, I want to somehow incorporate those new subtitles into the DVD so that I could select them as an option from a TV DVD player, etc. Is this possible? Is there already a tutorial out there for this sort of thing? Thanks a lot in advance.

First you have to OCR the subs into some editable text format. Here's the Doom9 guide for that:

Then edit the subs using SubtitleCreator, Subtitle Workshop, SubStation Alpha, Aegisub, etc. If you don't know how to use any of those programs, then look around the guides section at Videohelp.com for tutorials.

The last part is getting the subs back into the DVD. I use a variation of the Method 2 as explained in this guide:
