View Full Version : Audio Only AVCHD Disc Authouring

It will be really simple, because I'll add an option "use AUDIO tracks only" and "create audioBD" button, along with "HD audio priority" (it will affect both video and audio only compilations).
It will allow those of you who own BD concerts to safely add their video files, but only audio will be used for the final compilation.
I'll issue another version soon that will include support for aac/ac3/pcm/lpcm/dts/HD audio (DD/DTS). It is the MPL files that delay all.

I got another GREAT :D idea, inspired by this old PSX interface
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/8/8e/Dvd_xmb_img02_pop.jpg
I'm thinking of expanding the current XMB-styled menu in multiAVCHD to a more featured one, using really XMB style to browse not just UP and DOWN but LEFT and RIGHT.
This way it can get as the real XMB and you can chose what content to play.
XMBar may contain [exit icon] [pictures icon] [audio icon] [video icon].
This way the user can have pictures/HD audio tracks and HD videos in one AVCHD compilation.
Of course I'll need to check how to make browsable slideshow, but we'll get there ;)
Let me know what you think.

sure is cool with me..anything that gives us professional looking results is fine with me..
Personally I have no plans to add anything other than audio tracks to whatever discs I make - I just want to stick a disc in my BR player and get hires 5.1 music..
however others like adding artwork or will want things like slideshows or adding the lyrics which match the songs as they play..
me..just the music..and I'd rather stick to a single DVD5 - the extra video content could push the size up to a DVD9..

I'd rather post it here, so other people can use it too.
Here is 2 hours (120 mins) blank 720x480p AVC video @24fps.
Download it - black_h264_video.rar (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/black_h264_video.rar) - it is just 31KB, but unpacked is about 5MB.
Use it with tsmuxer and add your audio tracks, then tsmuxer will generate the output you need, cutting video to audio track length.
Let me know if it works for you :)

Hi Deank,
Is there any possibility that you can explain how you make this video track with avisynth/x264. Example with different fps's.
Thank you also for all your contribution on these forums.

Sure.. it is a simple AviSynth script:
here is 120sec black 1280x720 @ 23.976
blankclip(24*120, width=1280, height=720, fps=24000, fps_denominator=1001, pixel_type="YV12")
here is 60sec red 1440x1080 @ 23.976
blankclip(24*60, width=1440, height=1080, fps=24000, fps_denominator=1001, pixel_type="YV12", color=$900000)
You can use fps and fps_denominator to select framerate.
For example:
fps=30000, fps_denominator=1001 for 29.970
fps=24000, fps_denominator=1001 for 23.976
fps=24000, fps_denominator=1000 for 24.000
fps=24 for 24.000
fps=25 for 25.000
etc...
Here is the Wiki page. (http://avisynth.org/mediawiki/BlankClip)

Could anyone recommend how I could re-process a DVD-A to BDaudio? The sturcture of the DVD-A has AOBs in the Audio_TS folder. I used EVOdemux, which does recognize the 96/24 MLP, I demuxed to MLP, LPCM, PCM, none of which allowed me to create a BDAudio disc using the 96/24 LPCM tracks.
Eac3to would not recognize them as PCM tracks either, however pcm2tsmu did create a tsMuxeR compatible PCM file from the EVODemuxed files, which only created static when I tried to play on my PS3. My audio set up does support 96/24 through HDMI.
Thanks.

use DVD-A Explorer to extract the 24/96 MLP files - use eac3toGUI to convert them to LPCM and then make the avchd using Tsmuxer..

Thank keysersose but reading original spec from the site of ACVHD they says that linear PCM is supported for a max of 1,5Mbts, that means 16 bits 48 khz, not 24bits 88Khz as I need!!

I was able to take a retail DVD-A disc with tracks being 24/96, convert it to LPCM and it played fine on my PS3 and displayed it LPCM 24/96...
Dolby TrueHD on bluray is either 24/48 or 24/96 and there is no problem playing these as AVCHD discs..

To revive this topic :)
I added some experimental/initial support for audio titles in multiAVCHD (as I promised few months ago). You can now create audio-AVCHD / audioBD discs.
Currently, mlp/mp2/mp3/ac3/dts/wav/pcm/lpcm/flac formats are supported. (certain restrictions apply <=4GB for MLP and FLAC->LPCM)
You can create a compilation:
* with or without menu
* with chapter marks in each song (for faster browsing)
* with black background for each audio title
* with custom background + Title name + Duration for each title (as in the screenshot attached below)
* and have tracks play sequentially
* and quit / loop playback after the last title
* Poster image can be used for audio-title background
* Custom chapters can be loaded/edited for audio-title
* Language ID for audio track can be changed
FLAC will be converted to AC3 if "TrueHD to LPCM" option is not checked, otherwise it will be converted to LPCM (a better way to keep its quality).
MLP (Meridian) will be converted to WAV/LPCM (4GB limit per title).
DTS, AC3, WAV, PCM/LPCM are not reprocessed/reencoded but added 'as is'.
MP3/MP2/FLAC files are reencoded to AC3/LPCM and sampling rate is changed to 48000 if not reported or if < 48000.

Regarding MLP, as far as I know the difference between MLP and TrueHD is just the header. The data itself is exactly the same. So it should be possible to 'convert' MLP to TrueHD.
MLP and TrueHD are exaclty same.
Only there are on TrueHD file some data information (room size, sort of audio:music,...; ..)
ScenaristBD/BluPrint/DSA see MLP file like TrueHD audio track ;)
So it should be not only possible, but practically doable, to convert MLP to TrueHD by adding just that header information...? And save 40-50% of space over uncompressed PCM.
I guess there's no public spec over the TrueHD format...?
But, if the header is small, one could try to find out the necessary information with just a hex editor. Or, even better, does anyone have the same track both as MLP and TrueHD?

to revive this topic again..:)
I have been using TSMuxerGUI to make avchd discs with a DTS-MA audio track
have been playing fine on my PS3
I bought the new Denon flagdhip player - it will play the discs but I cannot:
1-see any details on screen
2-fast forward
3-chapter skip
I can live without 1 and 2 but really want to be able to skip tracks
Is Tsmuxer specific to make discs only for the PS3?
any ideas on what to do for the Denon player?

ok steps are:
1-mount your iso file
2-go to BDMV/Stream/
3-install TSMuxerGUI
4-move the 000001.mt2s file to the input panel
5-demux option
6-email me at mrkeysersose@gmail.com - I'll email the 1080P video file and chapter points
7-using TSMuxerGui make a new Blu-ray disc using the 1080P video file and demuxed album.dtshd audio stream

multiAVCHD build 703
* Fix for audioBD / audioAVCHD compilations
Chapter jumps, fast forward and rewind now work properly.
The best way to import an album title (many songs in one audio file) is to use .CUE sheet playlist.
If multiAVCHD is unable to detect album duration it will look for specific lines in the .cue file (if cue file is present).
If you're using .cue files, please add:
TRACK 99 AUDIO
TITLE "END"
INDEX 99 MM:SS:FF
at the end of the file, replacing MM:SS:FF with the actual duration of your album.
For example for 1 hr 5min 13sec long album:
TRACK 99 AUDIO
TITLE "END"
INDEX 99 65:13:00
(65 minutes = 1hr 5mins : 13 seconds)
* If .cue file is not present and album duration is not detected it defaults to 2 hours (7200 seconds)
* If. cue file is present but there is no "INDEX 99" album-duration-indication, then duration defaults to last track start time + 5 mins
Dean

multiAVCHD build 704
addresses some problems with .dtshd files if .cue file is not present or if .cue filename is different than the .dtshd filename.
Prompt pop-up for manual duration entry is added in format HH:MM:SS when multiAVCHD is not able to detect audio album duration.
It should now all work for audio compilations / albums (audioBD and audioAVCHD).

1. There's one thing I haven't seen mentioned anywhere in this thread: Profile 3.0, which is dedicated for audio-only Blu-rays. Is your utility compliant with this standard?
2. Do Blu-ray discs support metadata similar to ID3?
3. Can Blu-rays be played without AACS or BD+, or do I have to use AVCHD?
My end goal is to master a disc that will play on Profile 3.0 audio players when they become available.
deank
24th December 2009, 08:41
1) Yes, it will produce output compatible with Profile 3.0
2) Yes, meta information is stored it \META\DL and \META\ES
3) Yes, you can, but you also can use AVCHD if the player is AVCHD-compatible.
