Any other options/ quality encoders for TrueHD to AC3 conversion?
Yep, I see this <WARNING> one time.

Now the preferred encoder to AC3 is ffmpeg.

1) Dowload the static versión (32 or 64 bits for your OS) from http://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/

2) Put only ffmpeg.exe in your eac3to folder (or in UsEac3to folder, or in your Encoders folder)

3) Extract the .thd from your .mkv

4) Load the .thd in UsEac3to, click in 'A/V Recode', select 'Recode to AC3' and 'RUN' or 'EnQueue'

ffmpeg recode your .thd to .ac3.

EDIT: same process recommended for DTS

With 7.1 sources you can use also the last BeHappy versión:
[1] Select LWLibavAudioSource like decoder (even from .mkv selecting the correct index)
[3] Downmix - 7.1 -> 5.1 (optimized downmix using AudioLimiter.dll)
[4] AC3 FFmpeg encode

It could be a bug of this GUI in the way it sets the commands to eac3to.

If you put the full log of UsEac3to you can see the command line generated by UsEac3to.

Please tell me the differences with the command line than you use.

Please put always the full log.

Well, it may sound strange and it definitely is, but there was no difference between StaxRip and UsEac3to commands to eac3to.

So, i did the only test left, i used the previous eac3to version that StaxRip uses v3.29.

And it worked with UsEac3to!

The next test will be to use eac3to v3.30 with StaxRip and test if it works (I doubt it)

Update:

OK, StaxRip worked even with eac3to v3.30 and libaften, so I put those two log files here:

Problem solved with new eac3to v3.31.

Hi tebasuna, I finally succumbed to the Windows 10 upgrade but UsEac3to no longer works unfortunately.

Whenever I open it, an error message pops up stating that it can't find UsEac3to.cmd in the installation folder. If I just click OK I can then change the settings etc. but when I try to add an input source, the same error message pops up and the program freezes and needs killing in task manager.

Any ideas what could be causing it please? Is a fresh install of Windows 10 after doing the upgrade first and activating.

:thanks:

Well in Autoit main window say:

Compatible with Windows XP / 2003 / Vista / 2008 / Windows 7 / 2008 R2 / Windows 8 / 2012 R2

But last versión say:

3.3.14.0 (10th July, 2015) (Release)
...
Added: @OSVersion supports Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016.

Try this one compiled with last version https://www.sendspace.com/file/g6iq27

How strange...

I can confirm that I'm currently using UsEac3to v1.1.8 with eac3to v3.31 on a Windows 10 32-bit laptop and on a Windows 10 64-bit laptop without any issues.

Cheers

Thanks guys.

Turns out it was Windows UAC that was blocking UsEac3to writing to it's program folder. Changed the folder security privileges and it worked fine. Or did for one encode because it's now stopped working again!

Whenever I try adding any input file I just get what looks to be eac3to's readme file in the main window :-

eac3to v3.31, freeware by madshi.net

- can show information about audio, video, VOB/EVO/(M2)TS and MKV files
- can decode and encode various audio formats
- can remove dialog normalization from AC3, E-AC3, DTS and TrueHD tracks
- can extract AC3 stream from Blu-Ray TrueHD/AC3 tracks
- can extract TrueHD stream from Blu-Ray TrueHD/AC3 tracks
- can extract DTS core from DTS-HD tracks
- can remove DTS zero padding and repair outdated DTS-ES headers
- can apply positive or negative audio delays
- can reduce bitdepth of decoded audio data by using TPDF dithering
- can resample decoded audio data (using SSRC or r8brain)
- can apply/reverse PAL speedup on decoded audio data (SSRC/r8brain)
- can demux video / audio tracks of EVO/VOB/(M2)TS and MKV sources
- can list available titles of Blu-Ray and HD DVD discs
- can extract Blu-Ray and HD DVD chapter information and subtitles
- can mux MPEG2, VC-1 and h264 video tracks to Matroska
- can remove pulldown flags from MPEG2, VC-1 and h264 video tracks

(there's more but I've cut it off for the sake of post length)

Any ideas again please? Thanks again.

In the main window?
Below the title "**EAC3TO INFO**"?

This content must be at a pop-up window named "Eac3to Help" when you select "? -> Help"

If you close UsEac3to and run again, you can open a new file?

I don't know what happen.

Just make sure that you execute UsEac3To with administrator privileges --> Run as administrator. I've been having similar problems (on Windows 7 actually) until I realized this. You can even set this option under Compatibility settings tab on your desktop or quick launch shortcut which starts UsEac3To.

Thanks kypec. Yes, I finally figured this out last night. The issues have all been down to that I put my eac3to folder (with UsEac3to inside) in my program files folder without installing them as such.

So it wasn't letting anything run without admin permissions. But I've set up a shortcut to run as admin now like you say.

Hi

I would like to ask, where could any info be found about outputs?

tebasuna51
13th January 2016, 23:04
What info?

ac3-ext is for use external encoder Aften, that allow use all parameters of encoder.

For instance -pad 0 cancel the standard 5 ms delay of AC3 encoders.
-exp 32 -s 1 maybe done better quality (more slow encode)

BTW the recommended encoder to AC3 is ffmpeg, for instance:
stdout.w64 | ffmpeg -i - -c:a ac3 -b:a 640k -center_mixlev 0.707 %_.ac3

Hi

Thanks fot this info.
If ffmpeg is recommended it means the first AC3 choice is selected from output list, it going to use ffmpeg, or "ac3-ffm" has to be selected?

The default eac3to is use libAften.dll.
If you want use a external encoder you need select it, "ac3-ffm" in this case.

Remember than external encoder (standalone ffmpeg.exe here) are searched by UsEac3to in this order:
1) In UsEac3to folder
2) In "Encoders folder" defined in Settings
3) In eac3to folder

stdout.w64 | ffmpeg -i - -c:a ac3 -b:a 640k -center_mixlev 0.707 -surround_mixlev 0.707 %_.ac3
My source is 5.1 DTS-HD MA.
Why center and sourrond mixlev are added to it?
How can ffmpeg be used for Dolby Digital Plus encode?

Modify the line to:

Hi

Thanks for this too. ;)
I was confused by this "mixlev" switch, believing that center and surround channel will be encoded by this gain.
Now I see gain info only stored in AC3 header as a message to the decoder "apply it in case of stereo downmix".

Concerning Dolby Digital Plus, I will check whether 7.1 channel from DTS-HD MA can be encoded to lossy EAC3 correctly.

EDIT: Now It was tested.
Input 4887kbps@7.1ch.
This switch used:
stdout.w64 | ffmpeg -i - -c:a eac3 -b:a 1344k %_.eac3
Output 1344kbps@5.1ch.
I lost the extra channels.

Well, any .exe file can contain virus, for that I upload also the source file (.au3) that can be interpreted or compiled with the free tools suplied in https://www.autoitscript.com/site/autoit/

You can read the source code to see than not exists malicious code inside, and you need trust than the autoit compiler don't introduce malicious code also (don't exist warnings about that).

This antivirus message is a joke because can be applied to any .exe file in your system.

Hi, I got a new problem this time.
It seems like useac3to only works if I encode on my C: disk, if i want to encode on my external disk L, it got stuck after processing verything and starting the conversion job, at 1%.

I think it may be something related with administration rights, is there anyway to fix it?

All the programms are in C disk

Try to run UsEac3to.exe as administrator and you'll see if it helps.

didnt work, because I think that the other programs like the muxer (useac3to just sends the command to the program) gotta be running in admin mode too, the only thing that runs in admin mode is the interface.

Its not a critical bug, because i can still work extracting the audios with mkvextract and then converting with useac3to, but i just wanted to comment it.

BTW: I hate the random question lol

Maybe you have a extrange character, showed here like '-ñ'
I can't guarantee than UsEac3to work fine with all languages but yes with spanish, my native language.

Try rename the original file changing the character by a typed 'ñ' and say me if work now.

Yeah, I know that, mine too. But since then do some tests changing audionames including and ñ to see what happens and get the same result.

Seems a silly bug, maybe in Eac3to, but is good to know so nobody break his head with it.

Codec AVOption drc_scale (percentage of dynamic range compression to apply) specified for input file #0 (D:\Temp\test.mkv) has not been used for any stream.
