Less size, more compatible, and maybe more or at least equal quality.
To distinguish between PCM-source and the DTS-1536/AC3-640 encodes you need:
1) A room acoustic condioned.
2) A very good audio equipament (receiver and speakers).
3) Good ears.
I haven't that room, my audio equipment is not so good (~1000€) and my ears are very old.
Someone say than the AC3-640 is more close to PCM-source than DTS-1536.
I don't know for me is the same.

I've been meaning to ask...
Can your application be used to split the "core" and "HD" audio streams into separate streams?

Really... Please tell me how?
With:
...
1: h264/AVC, 1080i60 /1.001 (16:9)
2: DTS Master Audio, 7.1 channels, 24 bits, 96khz
(core: DTS, 5.1 channels, 24 bits, 1509kbps, 48khz)
Select 'Track Input': 2: DTS, 'Output format': dts, 'Add'
Select 'Frequent parameters': core, 'Add'
Now the command line is:
2: %_2.dts -core
Press 'RUN Command line' and you have the dts core, with:
2: %_2.dtshd
you have the full DTSMA
If the Bluray source have a TrueHD track (3)
3: %_3.ac3 extract the included ac3 track
3: %_3.thd extract only the thd part
3: %_3.tdh+ac3 extract the full track
SeeMoreDigital
19th July 2010, 19:26
Thanks for that...
Is it possible to extract the DTS HD audio stream without the core?
Cheers

nope...core is mandatory for dts-ma!

nope...core is mandatory for dts-ma!Yes, I understand that the "core" is mandatory for use with the Blu-ray disc format.
But does this also mean the inclusion of the core is mandatory for DTS-HD MA and DTS-HD HR streams as an audio format?
If this is the case, I guess I'll need a method of transcoding the DTS-HD element to say, PCM or FLAC
tebasuna51

Yes, the HD part is a complement to core part.
You need the ArcSoft DTS-HD decoder http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1398577#post1398577

Just discovered/tested this software, but seems that don't fit my needs.
Dunno if anyone else could be interested in this, but I decided to switch to Vorbis/MKV for CD-Images with embedded cuesheets.
It will be possible to use UsEac3to for this purpose ?

Update (only the GUI): UsEac3to 0.7.42 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/upomrq)
With mkv's generated with defaults in new versions of MkvMerge, from 4.1.0, the audio tracks (AC3, DTS, MP3 and MP2) can't be managed correctly with eac3to (header compression problem).
Same problem (eac3to now crash) with video track H264, from v4.2.0.
Changes:
- The button 'Run and MkvMux' use now --compression -1:none, all tracks muxed without compression.
- New option in 'MkvExtract/Mux' to remux the problematic mkv input without compression (now compatible with eac3to, tsmuxer, WD TV, ...)

I am trying to use it with a user defined output path but it always forget to ask me where I want the output files. Ideas?

Use 'Settings' -> 'Output folder' before.

Is easy to implement but uncomfortable to use in my opinion.
You have the source, make you your own version.

New UsEac3to v0.8 (http://www.sendspace.com/file/huipq9)
Changes v0.8 2010-11-29
- Now 'Output format' only show eac3to extract/convert allowed options for 'Track Input'
If show 'A.Tools' only 'Auxiliary Tools' can manage track/file.
Examples:
Xvid in mkv can be extracted with 'MkvExtract'
Vobsub in mkv also can be extracted with 'MkvExtract'
.ogg, .m4a, ... can be decoded with 'Decode ogg/mpx' (external decoders needed).
.srt, .ssa, .ass subs and .xml, .txt chapters can be delayed and/or stretched with 'SRT/.../TXT'.
- Better support for .mpls.
Automatically feature 1) added.

Is there any chance for, that UsEac3to, could take the file format *.m2ts, so we could rip the original subtitles out in the format (*.srt or *.ass) ?
Best regards

To convert SUP subtitles (from m2ts) to SRT you need suprip (or other), UsEac3to can't do the job.

I can not convert AAC files to AC3 files, as your GUI as it says "Nero Audio Decoder 2 instance failed."
Since I will not have Nero installed, so I downloaded this zip file "NeroAACCodec-1.5.1.zip" from here: http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nerodigital-nero-aac-codec.php
And copied exe files into the folder of your GUI and eac3to.
I hope you or someone else can help me.
tebasuna51

NeroAacDec.exe (from NeroAACCodec-1.5.1.zip) can decode AAC audio inside MP4 container (.mp4 or .m4a).
To decode AAC audio with ADTS headers (.aac) you need Faad.exe (http://www.rarewares.org/)

I'm not satisfied by the center channel from one AC3 5.1 file. In some moments the center si too low and what personages speak is very difficult to hear.
There is any option in useac3to to solve this in the simple way or I need more work with other programs?
Any advice?

Sorry, you can't amplify only one channel from a ac3 5.1 using only eac3to.
I was afraid of that. :(
Normalize is not good on AC3 5.1 audio?
The problem is when are a lot of ambiental sounds at high levels, them are covering the voices. This is one reason why I don't like AC3 and prefer DTS.

Normalize amplify (or not) all the channels with the same value. The relative volume of center channel don't change.

When I play movies on DVD players (I have more than 10), the AC3 sound is low compared with DTS which is loud and clear. The same thing now with HD mediaplayers (I have 4; 3 with Realtek chipsed and one with Sigma).
I live in Romania. Here the only movies with romanian sound are animations. If the sound is not clear for me, what about the kids?

Input or Drag&Drop the srt/.../txt file, eac3to say:
The format of the source file could not be detected.<ERROR>
Click over the 'SRT/.../TXT' button.
Some 'Auxiliary Tools' don't need eac3to to work, with 'Audio recode' there are others formats not supported by eac3to than can be used: ogg, wma and wmv.

Yes, is a problem.
Many UsEacto functions work with bat/cmd files and I don't know how support Unicode with this.
BTW, you have the source UsEac3To.au3, let me know if you can modify the code to support Unicode.

Why only in 32ms multiples ?
tebasuna51

Because, without recode, only can add/cut AC3 frames, and a AC3 (48 KHz) frame duration is 32 ms (a frame have 6 blocks of 256 samples = 1536 samples).
