Hello people

When I extract the subtitle files from the DVD I use the
following methods

1. extract subtitles by using subRip
2. convert that file into srt by using subRip

The problem is that when I convert the image subtitle file into text subtitle file (.srt), I have to type an alphabet for each text picture and it is really tedious

Isn't there any programme which scan the text pictures automatically and convert it to .srt file?

Thank you in advance

Have a nice day

You can directly scan the subpicture with subrip and then OCR it to srt.

but srt is buggy and complicate. better you use the vob.sub/idx format. there are no changes from the original to the extract vob.sub/idx.

Hi,

Just to be clear. If you extract sub/idx, you will get the exact subpictures from the DVD. These are actually bitmaps (images). If you use an OCR program you can then get a text file corresponding to your bitmap which most of the time is an srt file. But you'll lose subtitle positions, sizes and colors. However you can then display them with other fonts and sizes than what is on the original DVD.
It really depends on what you want to do with the subtitles.

To answer your question, there is an automatic OCR in DVDSubEdit.

Cheers
