View Full Version : sub problem muxing after PAL-to-Ntsc with FAVC

I converted a PAL dvd to Ntsc dvd with FAVC, and am trying to add the original PAL dvd subtitles which are .SUP.
FAVC only uses .SRT, so I would need to convert SUP to SRT, but this is problematic. I thought it would be simpler to just demux the new Ntsc, and remux with the SUP subs. The subs seem synced, but there are some lines missing randomly. They aren't hidden below, as I raised all subs up in DvdSubedit.
What's the solution? Do the PAL subs need some kind of tweaking, like framerate change, even though the PAL and Ntsc videos are the same length?
Can FAVC be tweaked to accept SUP subtitles?

Hi!Can FAVC be tweaked to accept SUP subtitles? If not, you can use DVDSubEdit to convert them to SRT...

Well, like I said, it's problematic converting SUP direct to SRT. I used Dvdsubedit, and the english seems okay (though I couldn't fix the errors made in Dvdsubedit in it's OCR window), but the other stream which is a foreign language was fouled up, and would require alot of manual re-writing. That's why I'd just like to keep the original Sup.

I tried changing the framerate to see if that would clear up the problem. Sup to Sub, changed the framerate, then Sub to Sup. It only made them unsynced. I would have thought the framerate needed to be changed, since the video framerate was changed by FAVC.

I assume to have FAVC make a PAL to NTSC conversion, all you do is check the NTSC box. That's what I did, and resulting video properties are Ntsc and play like a regular Ntsc video in my dvd player (which is awesome).
Btw, FAVC only accepts SRT but outputs the subtitles as SUP!
