I guess the easiest way to demonstrate my problem is the following extract.
45
00:01:19,509 --> 00:01:19,549
# I CAN'T RESIST #

46
00:01:19,609 --> 00:01:22,089
# I CAN'T RESIST #

47
00:01:23,729 --> 00:01:23,769
(SINGING IN FRENCH)

48
00:01:23,829 --> 00:01:26,589
(SINGING IN FRENCH)

49
00:01:42,309 --> 00:01:42,349
# TEMPTATION #

50
00:01:42,409 --> 00:01:45,549
# TEMPTATION #

instead of

45
00:01:19,509 --> 00:01:22,089
# I CAN'T RESIST #

46
00:01:23,729 --> 00:01:26,589
(SINGING IN FRENCH)

47
00:01:42,309 --> 00:01:45,549
# TEMPTATION #

This occurs when you demux a TS file derived from Australian DVB-T transmissions (PAL) - either SD or HDTV using ProjectX

It doesn't cause a problem playing back the subs on either the computer or over LAN to the TV however when any version of VSO ConvertXtoDVD is used to make a DVD there is a slight flutter in the subs as observed on the TV.

Apart from writing a macro in WORD to fix the problem is there a simple solution or maybe a setting in ProjectX that will sort it?

Note ProjectX is the only program that will demux Oz DVB-T files to audio, video and subtitles to date so I need something to process the SRT file post demuxing.

Many thanks

aegisub has an options to join entries within a specific distance to remove the gap, maybe it even has a matching option..

It's sometimes worth playing with the options in PX to see what happens (boxed/hidden being the most useful).

What version ProjectX do you have, UK teletext subs have improved since the last proper release, so maybe Australian ones have too. The version I have is b24 from July, I think there may be a newer one than that though.

I'm running the latest PX and I have tried a few earlier versions! (I have 4 versions loaded!!) You can do what I want to do using Subtitle Workshop "combine selected subs"( control k ) but it is a labourious job selecting pairs of lines especially for long movies etc. I'm not sure if you can run a script in SW - that could help. I have tried just about every option in ProjectX to see what it does. But I haven't tried yet the one you suggested... Many thanks
PS. subs haven't improved in Oz they still tend to be a bit high in the picture area and more suited to overscanning 4:3 crt. The uptake of 16:9 LCD's is very high, well in Sydney it is. Fortunately my Beyonwiz PVR can move the subs up and down a bit so that helps.

I found the solution in Subtitle Workshop - should have had a deeper look before posting. Sorry for the wild goose chase. Control I or
Tools --> Information and errors ---> Information and Errors ----> Settings ---> turn of all checking except "Repeated Subtitles" do the same under the Fix tab then click Fix Errors!

That does it...:)
