How do I cause DirectVobSub to be loaded properly, always.

I have a series with softsubs I want to transcode later and make it hardsubbed. There's some other stuff I want to do later that I'm thinking will require a directshow app to be the frameserver (aka avisynth)

To do this I need to get all of the episodes to display the subs automatically, as in I open the file with WMP and the subs are there. The group apparently likes to switch softsub encoding randomly, and not all of the formats can be decoded with ffdshow, however all of them can be decoded with DirectVobSub.

My problem is this, DirectVobSub does not automatically decode the subs. I figured I might be able to fix this with merits but it seems that as usual with M$, the merit system does not perform as advertised.

I tried setting directvobsub to "load always" in it's own preferences, but this simply caused it to be loaded after ffdshow. I am afraid this will continue happen even if I fix the nero mp4 nonsense.

Does anyone have experience or knowledge that will explain how the filters are chosen for the graph? I think these are fairly standard filters - elements of Nero and the CCCP.
I have found that Haali Media Splitter (AR) works just fine as a replacement for Nero MP4 Splitter, and I switched the merits of the two (Haali is now higher than Nero), but if I drag and drop the file into graphedit, nothing changes!

Even though VSFilter hangs here with Vista on my laptop, I got it to work on my desktop by setting "Autoload VSFilter" to yes in Haali's splitter (Settings -> Options -> Compatibility). Changing VSFilter settings on desktop didnt do anything, it was all about that one thing in haali's splitter. Then with using DirectShowSource in avisynth, the softsubs showed up. Try it and let us know if it worked :)

I set the option as you suggested, and DirectVobSub now loads automatically in Windows Media Player! Wonderful!

What does this mean?

I mean that they change the format of the subtitles, or at the very least how they mux the subs into the AVIs. Some episodes will have subs that show up in VLC, some won't. All subs show up with DirectVobSub. -- I made sure that none of them are hardsubbed.

Well, now it loads AVI splitter... It works though so I'm happy.

DirectVobSub is not loaded when I make an Avisynth script with DirectShowSource.
AVIsource: Could not decompress frame 0
AVIFileSource: AVIFileSource Couldn't open file ...

Do I need to load a plugin? I have only minimal experience with Avisynth. I used the preview button on AVSEdit

Hi, I am an individual unaffiliated with such a group. The group I am talking about is AnimeHQ, and I am trying to re-encode episodes that I downloaded from them.
