Direct show resize filter for divx

The filter upgrade is very nice. I am sure many people will appreciate the added functionality.

It's takes too much cpu here on 450 p2, so I am going to upgrade.

For those that have a faster box, the h+ card, intel cpu, divxplus applicaation and want to resize your divx movie to 640 wide so it will fit the screen, just load the filter above, open graphedit, open your movie (if you loaded the direct show resize filter in your system dir) it should open with your movie and the h+yuv render. If not, simply delete the render filter, add (under directshow filters), the bicubic resize and the h+ yuv render filter and connect the pins.
Right click on the bicubic resize filter and set the size you need and save it. Then hit play. You are good to go.

I thought that Zoom player could just resize by controlling the video overlay in hardware instead of executing code. If this is true then I'm not sure why you would want to use a software resize if you were just watching and not converting something. Unless it does a lot better job it seems it would just waste CPU.

Yeah. No one answered that part. I guess zoom only works on a monitor and the tv resizing must be with a filter.

blight wrote on his forum that the resizing options won't work from zoom when rendering through the tvout of H+/dxr3. I confirmed this. The window on the desktop would resize, etc. but nothing happened in the TV screen...

btw, any thoughts as to why, when routing sound through ap 24/96, the sound is a second behind the video. This does not happen with avi/ac3, only with DVDs. When outputting the audio via dxr3 this doesn't happen. I would love to get rid of this problem. I'd hate to have to always change the cables in the back of the box...

I think it is a timing thing that the computer can't clock it. I don't have a clue really. Sorry about that. I hear you on the moving the cables issue. It does suck. I will poke arond with your issue and see if I can get anything to happen with some creative tricks. It's about all I can do.

You're welcome. This is a big deal to me because I feel that the tvOUT on the dxr3 is superior to composite out of my Radeon 64 and tnt2ultra(with tvtool). The hardware DVD playback,and its output to a standaed NTSC TV is better than any of the standalones I have owned. I would simply like to use zoomplayer-rather than Eugene's, so I can use the soundcard, and its common S/PDIF output...

I appreciate the assistance with the soudcard troubles. I don't know what the hell is going on. The ap 24/96 is pretty configurable, but alot of that stuff is like another language to me. I don't think it's a CPU issue. I forget what speed AMD chip is in there, but it's at least 800mhz. The motherboard is one of the notorious 133a sets, so I am going to keep poking around avs looking for an answer, as well. The curious thing is that I was playing the DVD from the harddrive, which is generally so much more stable...

The last step woud be to get Geiss/Milkdrop running (although I don't know if it's compatible with winamp3). I'm sure it's possible, or that it will be in the near future, but I want to get the DVD stuff straight before I start screwing around with visualizations...

I found that when playing avi/ac3, the resize filter is NOT necessary, at least with the samples I used. However, I know that I encoded with standard heights and widths, so I don't know if this helps you, legman. I am going to test out decomb and trbarry's resize, so what are the problematic resolutions? I will use those in my tests...

Is there any way to get this filter to work on SVCD playback? I want to be able to chop off the black bars from a 4:3 letterbox SVCD and have it pipe that via overlay to my Matrox G400 TV out.

It works for me with SVCDs with PowerDVD 4.0 installed. Looks like you can finally watch LOTR, hehe.

to dvdyke: I made filter fix following aspect ratios when VCD aspect fix is on. 352x240, 352x288, 352x480, 352x576, 480x480, 480x576, 720x480 and 720x576 so remember to have that vcd aspect fix on if you want to watch those resolutions in correct aspect ratio. So yes it's working svcd's :) and half and full d1 resolutions too.

How do I get it to work in PowerDVD or WinDVD to playback SVCD's?

You probably won't. But i'll add non autoloading version to the next release you can then use that with zoom player that has dvd playback capabilities. And i've noticed that atleast mpeg-2 splitters i hade don't split mpeg-2 videos that have cd-xa headers (burned svcd's tracks directly on cd) but windows own mpeg-1 splitter works on vcd's mayber if you get mpeg-2 splitter somewhere that works svcd direcly so you can just click files direcly on the svcd and play them on mediaplayer you can watch them easily with my filter now. Or ofcourse if you don't get that workin you can rip them to hd as mpeg's with isobuster or similar.

I was refering to its weak visual quality in comparision to the other filter. The truth is not slander. This is clear as I mentioned both filters.

You may also notice that I added some comments to that thread you misquoted. Something about ghosting and headaches. Just the truth, nothing more.

Now your filter gives me actual pain to view its output when used to resize, so maybe it is causing damage in my eyes or other peoples' eyes? You guys should think carefully before releasing something that causes pain to people. There is a great deal of liability in that.

You asked to back up my opinion, so I have. Would you like to discuss how the bicubic filter causes me no pain or how it has not crashed on me yet or how I want that high merit?

It isn't legman's filter in the first place, and if you have to go around making legal threats when someone complains about your products rather than improving them, that makes your company look pretty bad indeed.

As for your comments regarding the bicubic filter, the objectivity of your post could be called into question. Normally I wouldn't suspect even someone working on a competing product to have ulterior motives, but in light of your threats I can only assume that your goal is to discredit your competition.

I think that if a man calls something crappy he must back up his words in the term of facts not just statements. I thought the term "scrappy" was mentioned in an objective way, but it was mentioned in a subjective way. But we'll do our best to fit to your needs that no one could call our products scrappy anymore, even legman.
