Subs won´t play on video edited by nandub

Hi
recently joined two similar Xvid files in Nandub (no audio/video recompression), downloaded the *.srt subs, edited them in subtitleworkshop, the subs can play on any PC player, but not on the standalone...

is this problem related to any keyframes issue?

A few all too obvious questions:

1) Is your standalone player capable of displaying separate subtitle files?

2) Does the .SRT file have the same name as the XviD file?

3) Have you previously successfully played such combinations (XviD and separate .SRT) files on your standalone DVD player?

The answer to all the obvious questions is obviously yes. But you did well on checking:)

Please be good enough to post the first few lines of your modified (by SubTitle Workshop).SRT file...

BTW - As an experiment, load the DivX into standard VirtualDub, set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy" and resave with a new filename. Also change the .SRT filename to the same new filename (Of course, with an ".SRT" extender)

"experiment" already made when i produced my Xvid file by joining the two half movie files.
By the way, also made two more video files this way and got the same problem of not displaying the subs on the standalone...

Have you successfully displayed subtitles using this character set (Portugese?) on your standalone player before?"experiment" already made when i produced my Xvid file by joining the two half movie files.Just to be certain, you did this using the STANDARD VirtualDub (not NanDub)?

Problem solved... a stupid "first letter char" problem: "The man on fire.avi ; the man on fire.srt" "The last castle.avi ; the last castle.srt"

I would never imagine this could be a problem, but tried and worked with a perfect char match.

i always use Nandub, better to use Virtualdub is it?

As to Nandub vs. Virtualdub, I would recommend Virtualdub, as it is updated with many additional features and so on, vs Nandub which hasn't been updated in a few years. (2001 in fact).

So, in short, go with Virtualdub.
