Can i add a subtitle to htdv movie?

ive added many times my own subtitles to an existing dvd.

is there a way to add subtitle to an hdtv moives ?

i now have mkv files and i want to add subtitles to them.

can it be done ?

Its even easier than with a DVD. HDTV is irrelevant, matroska doesn't vary features like that.

Simply drag the file into mkvmergeGUI, then drag in the subs (the idx for vobsub) and hit mux. MKV supports vobsub, SSA/ASS and SRT.

If you need to sync, MPC will auto-pickup subs with the same name as the video and even allow you to sync and resave.
