Hey all!

New to this forum and want to thank everyone who contributes regularly! This place has been quite helpful to me as of late.

One issue I have not found an answer to is with DVDShrink. When backing up a DVD, I normally remove all subtitles (aka "subpicture"). However, I have noticed that when viewing these movies on-screen text is ALWAYS accompanied by a corresponding subtitle. For example, a movie might list the date when the following scene is supposed to take place:

"December 3, 1988 - Washington, D.C." will have a subtitle that reads "December 3, 1988 - Washington, D.C."

Anyone know how to get rid of these? They can be quite distracting.

You can use DVDSubEdit to check your DVD to see if there are really subtitles in it.
I am not sure if what you see is part of the movie.

It is part of the movie, but it also appears as a subtitle...so the text is actually on the screen twice...at the same time.

Hi!

If I remember correctly, there is a setting in DVD Shrink's "Preferences" to "Not list small subpictures" (or similar nomenclature). Uncheck this in order to have DVD Shrink list ALL subpictures/subtitle streams, thereby allowing you to delete ALL such files...

"Hide audio and subpicture streams of insignificant size"

Found it! Thanks!
