@ all

Iīm used to create my srt-Subtitles with SubRip. I would also do this in Linux with wine but I canīt get it work. Is there someone who works with SubRip in Linux and can tell me how I can get SubRip work in Linux?

Or has someone an idea if there is another tool which works under linux und creates srt Subtitles?

Thanks for your help :)

Avidemux can do subtitle ripping.

As for getting SubRip to work, you need to configure wine to identify to SubRip as Win98. Run 'winecfg', then in the 'Applications' tab click Add Application, browse to SubRip.exe. Then, having SubRip.exe selected in the list, set Windows Version to Windows 98. If it still won't work correctly, run winecfg again, select SubRip.exe in the list, then go to the 'Graphics' tab and untick "Allow the window manager to control the windows".
