how to increase timelimit for single/multiple .idx subtitle lines?

Hi everyone,

I'm dealing with a weird (.idx .sub) subtitle problem. Some of the subtitle lines stays on the screen just a few milliseconds, and I can't read it properly.

The problem with .idx files that they only have a starting time!

I've tried to manipulate with this line in the .idx file:

# In millisecs
fadein/out: 50, 50

and tried to change the numbers but with no success.

Any help to fix this problem would be appreciated.

Actually the duration of the subtitles is encoded in the sub files (where the graphics are also encoded).
However I don't know how to edit the duration.
