Quickest and good way to enlarge subtitle size, change color, & add black background

Right now I need to make the subtitles from the dvds I own larger, white and add a black background so I can see them. My eyes are not that great and I hate when you can't see subtitles, no matter what color they are, on a bright movie scene. I seen it happen on the tv shows Heroes a few times with their subtitles during certain scenes.

To do this I extract the subtitles from my dvds then use Subresync to make them .srt subtitles. I then have to type each letter and symbol it wants me to so I can create the image subtitles to text subtitles. This is the part I hate because its pretty time consuming. Is there anyway to speed up this part by saving all the previous letters and symbols I already typed in so I never have to type them in again if I already did for previous subtitles please ?

After all this is done I play the dvd but I don't turn on the subtitles that are included with the dvd because there still to small, don't have the white text subtitles, and no black background. I just turn on the subtitles I created as a .ssa with the changes I made to my liking. I sure wish you could do this to then subtitles directly on the dvd or on a dvd player that would let you do this. I have never seen anything like this before though.

Maybe he plays the DVDs using MPC and its built-in subtitle filter (in a VMR renderles mode). When using MPC in a renderless mode, it allows you to load an external subtitle with File->Load subtitle.

Tiger2, the DVD subtitles are images (think 'bitmaps') and what SubRip does is to OCR them (optical character recognition). The OCR process is not really so amazing that it can figure out 100% of the characters by itself, so it asks you to give feedback when it doesn't know what to do. There's nothing you can do about it.

save the character matrix file and reload it every time u convert new subs.

Good advice, but he's using SubResynch for the job. If he'd switch to SubRip, then he can save the character matrix and the next time a DVD has the same character matrix, he'll have little or no typing to do. And if he switches to SubRip, he should definitely save ai4spam's character matrix file, as it includes a lot of common character matrices already:
