Program for converting IDX files thats as good as SubRip but isn't SubRip

I need a program to convert VobSubs to text that will be able to do Italics, and won't do this:

Even if I turn off "Don't use IDX's File Offsets", I still on occasion get whats in the picture. I cannot believe "ai4spam" is going to/already has abandoned it.

In this post you refer to trying to convert VOBSub subtitles, regarding what appears to be the same subtitles.

Why don't you just extract the subtitles from your original "Taxi Driver" DVD?

All my DVD's are interstate with family. If I don't get OCR errors, I get errors about subtitles overlapping sometimes 400x+. Believe me, If I had the original DVD's in my grasp, there'd be zero problems.

It seems to me that if a user on this forum replies to their own thread a couple of times in a row, it goes dead. As it is now, my previous threads as far as i'm concerned are dead. Regarding italica in Avidemux, I got zero answers. It's also pretty useless to have a OCR software that cannot do italics. I guess I cannot complain as they are free tools and I do appreciate authors very hard work. If there was something I could buy to do this and do it properly, I would.

BTW, I simply reused the Taxi Driver subs as I had already upped that image and it was convenient. I can upload as many more as you like though showing my problems.

Thanks, But someone already referred me to this thread in a previous thread of mine. It worked as a whole but I still occasionally get it and also, after I rip the subtitles, I get a Error saying that my subs overlap each over sometimes over 400x.

As I asked in my thread "Why do I get this when converting .IDX/.SUB with SubRip?", Is this because they have been demuxed from Matroska files. I got no answers and I consider the post dead. I'll ask it again...

Hi,

What you can also do is convert your VobSub files to the sup format then use DVDSubEdit to OCR them. (For now, this will work correctly only for PAL subtitles because there's a bug of mine in the processing of NSTC VobSub files).

In SubRip, If I have "+TC & Res" ticked, the subtitles still overlap. Without it on, it doesn't. Does it need to be on?

EDIT: If I have "+TC & Res" unticked, It completes but only saves one SUP file about 3KB big. If I have it on, it saves alot of files - one for each subpicture but the times overlap.

Sorry I forget to mention that you can convert them to SUP using SubtitleCreator.

I went to "Manipulate SUP or VobSub files" and tried to save them as SUP files. The program crashed and photobucket is down.

Forget the Taxi Driver subs. I think they must be screwed.

Is there a better Matroska Demuxer. I think this "MKVExtract" I have is screwed. It's not even Unicode which bugs me as I have been extracting from alot of Asian movies which I have Kanji and other types of letters in there.

It's still odd that it's happening with straight VobSub's though.

With this "DVDSubEdit", are you telling me I need to do EACH .SUP file individually?

DVDSubEdit can OCR sup files automatically. So if you convert your sub/idx files to the sup format you can then use DVDSubedit to get a srt file.

Thanks for all the help I've received. This obviously isn't working for me so when I see family at Christmas, I'll just bring back all my DVDs to re-rip the subs.
