txt to sub

hi

i got 2 subs (.srt's). when opening them with the editor or word, they seem just the same, except the text itselfe of course. but one of them i can open with subtitel workshop, use it for a move, all without any problem. the other one just won't work fpr movies. it won't display anything. when opening it with subtitle workshot i get a "... is a bad subtitle or an unsupported format". but i can't figgure out whats wrong with it.


any help?

btw: i use vlc for playback, but it don't think that's the problem

Did you use IDENTICAL software and procedures to create both .SRT files?

If not, differing methodologies might yield different results...

lazy as i am i dled the subs


my concer isn't that much about the non-working sub itselfe... i could easy create working ones myselfe if i would take the time...

it's mainly in don't realy get the structure of these files... where the heck is the information telling vlc or subtitle workshop these subs aint ok ? i tried copying the text from the the non-working file into an working file.. but i just don't get it why it won't work

same to the letter-size... i only can change it when saving it as ssa... if i only chance the lettersize-part on the beginning of a subviewer-file it got no effect...

dump me just found out.... the not working one had "." in the timemarks instead of ","...

had to change them all... thx god this can be done automaticaly

still: where are the marks showing filesize and stuff in srt's ? mine usually (if i save em as simple srt's) never have anything in em, an still i got some which got differnt sizes (usually those i didnt make myselfe due to a lack of time)
