Hi, I have been trying to get my HTPC dialed in with much frustration over the last couple years. I have finally got a system up that does all but one thing correctly, subtitles!

I have now Windows Vista Ultimate and trying to run Media Center using the MyMovies 2 plugin which allows catalog and playback of my movies, which are backed up using Nero AVC (h.264). I use ffdshow to resize (upscale) and sharpen the videos on playback. Other than those 2 options I have turned subtitles on in ffdshow. I have also installed the Haali Media Splitter and the DirectVobSub trying to get things working.
So, with all that in mind, here's the deal:

Media Center: Plays back the movies fine, upscales and sharpens them, but with NO subtitles.

Play one of the mp4's in Media Player Classic: Again, play fine, upscale, but get ALL subtitles (i.e., we're trying to watch star wars and I want to just see the subtitles where they are talking in an alien language but I get to see subtitles all the time like watching closed captioning, they even show things like [sighs] or [laughs]

Playback in Nero Showtime: I can get both subtitles to work, all the time or just when the aliens talk (what are these different types called?) but no upscaling.

I have been basically trying to get everything working in Media Center as that's the idea, to be able to just turn on the HTPC and go. Any ideas? From what I've read and all the guides I've tried, it sounds like I have all the software/codecs I need but am maybe just having a configuration problem? Thanks.

i dont know anything about media center, but normally with the haali splitter you see an icon at the task bar which allows you to enable subtitles
