I changed the makedrmdir or w/e it's called value to 0, and still no luck. I have no idea what the problem with this is. I have a valid license for Yahoo, as I have for the past 1.5 yrs. Songs play fine on the PC. DRMDBG sees my indiv01.key. Just no output of drm2.key. Any ideas?

are you clicking multi scan? and are you point the *.wmv to the music directory? does windows media player open? and do songs play in windows media player after it is done scanning?

Ah... Are the songs in a separate folder? Sodapop has a point. You have to make sure that drmdbg is looking for the media in the right place. Once it finds the DRM-protected media, it'll start playing it (automatically). Once you validate your license, drmdbg should spit out the keys.
If you don't want to change the path to the *.wmv files in the ini, you should try dragging a song into the drmdbg directory and following the instructions from there.

All the MakeDRM2Dir setting does is tell drmdbg to create the DRM2.key file inside the same folder that it's in. (Instead of creating a "DRM2" folder, then placing "DRM2.key" inside it.)
If drmdbg can't even detect the keys for the song, then changing that setting won't really help you.
I'm not quite sure what the problem is. I've never had that problem before. All of my problems were related to the individualization keys missing or being located in weird areas. Once they loaded up, the program worked 100% for me.

ADDD, There is no wmv ans wma files. Are files are asf format but never mind :)I can't believe you didn't get my point. Practice proved that codec in ASF is important. You can see it on your FM2 which cannot decipher wmv correctly.

You aren't the only one having a problem with yahoo music... I've been trying for the past several days to get drmdbg to pick up the keys for any of my songs. While I know this forum doesn't support it I've tried drmdbg on both purchases songs and subscription songs and it doesn't seem to make a difference... It sees my invid01.key and plays the song but it doesn't print out a key. I'm willing to try things if anyone has any ideas.
Thanks

well, i just put XP on a desktop I have. i tried using drmdbg (the 1/1/08 version) with Yahoo Music for WMP 9 and 11. no luck for either of them. Does the same thing: plays song, doesn't spit out keys. I had to run a repair of my OS b/c something didn't copy properly, and now i can't even open up Yahoo music. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times but it keeps crashing on launch. IDK what the problem is, but i guess it doesn't really matter since i think we've determined that Yahoo has something special about it preventing DRMDBG from working. That sucks!

this is kind of like a beta type thing.... i havent versioned it or written any documentation for it, but as i said earlier its pretty self explanatory...
believe it or not rar'd its only 7kb.
http://rapidshare.com/files/87331513/unDRM.rar.html
I havent automated drmdbg as of yet, i plan to. but i believe the best part of this program is batch freeme2.
when freeme2 runs, it flies by super fast... the one time i did like 40 songs and it was like crazy blip of dos windows... im gonna try to hide those maybe and have my own progress bar.
oh and tell me anything thats wrong with it. will try to fix.
when im finished with it i will post source for all you cool kids to edit when i dont feel like it anymore.
have fun! :)
I must be doing something wrong. I can't get it to work... How about a quick read me or some steps that i need to take to get it to work?
thanks :)

Just installed XP SP2 on an old laptop. Burned all the updates to an .iso using "Offline Update". Installed WMP10 from an executable. Went to Windows update and picked up the few that were remaining...didn't install any optional WMP10 Updates. Used WMP10's "Napster Lite" Plugin to access my provider, not the full Napster Install. Bought a .99 cent track. 1.3 Fix worked, version was 11.0.5497.6285.

FINALLY i've had success with Yahoo, albeit not with DRMDBG, Vista, WMP 11, or 11.0.6000.7000.
I installed XP on my desktop (my laptop is my main machine), installed Yahoo, and then found a copy of Fairuse4wm 1.3. Smooth sailing from there.

Guys, please tell me why on earth do you buy DRM-protected music for .99 cents/track when you can buy DRM-free tunes at the same price or even less at iTunes+, eMusic, Amazon MP3,... (http://all-streaming-media.com/downloadable-audio-and-video/online-music-subscription-services-legal-music-download.htm)? I just don't get it.
This seem to be insane for me to buy lossy DRM removal software or to re-install Windows, learn how to use fairuse4wm, drmdbg, freeme2, drm2wmv. If you can't find the music you want... then obviously it is OK. Otherwise... just kill me 'coz I don't understand anything in this life.

i don't see the point in buying lossy music PERIOD.
(unless you're dead set on giving the musician a few cents and/or can't find it in a physical medium elsewhere; case in point: bought MP3s of C*Quence - Endorphine (cuz i only have and could only find the vinyl) and Sleepthief's Send Me an Angel (because he kicks so much ass, and the single isn't out yet))

Well because they prefer to Own all of what they have purchased... But if you look at it rationally why don't you stop paying for music and DDl a copy of Qtrax like whats mentioned on the home page of Doom9 and DDl free songs straight from the horses ass... (Qtrax is Owned by the RIAA)
Truth be known I don't know Either but its something to do...
Keeps me distracted... LOL

I have a request + something that might help you all rolled into one...
Download (http://sharebee.com/6042e1bc)
Basically, I packaged drmdbg and FreeMe2 (the latest versions of both, so drmdbg is the January 1, 2008 version) and jotted down some quick instructions on how to use them from start to finish. (It starts at individualization and ends at freeing the DRM-protected content).
That's the "something that may help you". Now here's my request...
Can someone (preferably someone who hasn't even individualized his/her computer yet) please follow the instructions step-by-step and tell me if everything works out? I want to make sure that I didn't miss a step or write down a step incorrectly. I already did the first few steps a while back, so I can't verify that they are correct.
Thanks, and enjoy... At the same time. x,X
Oh, and I take credit for nothing other than the instructions. Even then, you're free to post the instructions wherever (with or without credits... I don't really mind) you want.
P.S. As always, scan for viruses (yes, I'm asking you to scan a file that I posted for viruses). I know that I'm trustworthy, but you don't. Stay safe. =)
For those who already have drmdbg and FreeMe2...
Please help me find any mistakes. ^,^
Thanks For this
It Works Perfectly

The reason I do is because I have a subscription from Yahoo. I don't purchase the music I have, I rent it. I know this is a touchy subject, but I've had my Yahoo subscription for over a year and a half and love it and don't plan on canceling it ever. If I were to ever cancel, I would do the "right thing" and delete the songs I downloaded and unDRM'd from Yahoo.

I did it as a test for the forum. I wanted to see if 6000.7000 was forced on you no matter what...it is in some instances (new Napster 4.1 full install on Vista), but not others (XP SP2 using Napster 3.xx WMP10 plug-in). I agree with the "Buy DRM Free" philosophy.

DRM is dying. There can be two reasons why MS didn't release a new version after 11.0.6000.7000 was cracked:
1) They are working on completely new drm "engine" (v12?)
2) They just don't care about drm and want to stop using it at some point.
I think the most reasonable cause is the second one :)
StreamRipper
31st January 2008, 05:50
MS DRM won't die! Subscription services only started to appear on the arena. I think there should be 2 different solutions: one for renting licenses and another one that should die.
Ajax_Undone
31st January 2008, 07:41
I agree the DRM is only useful for renting and in that regard it should be used just like late fees at the video store... DRM should only disable rented content...
But as for purchased Music they need to give use back our God given rights to put our media on anything we like...
FredFredrickson
1st February 2008, 21:39
You should never un-drm rented music, whether you're going to delete it or not. Posting such is against the rules.
That being said- the reason I use this on Yahoo music and not just buy tracks with amazon is because a subscription to yahoo music gets me purchased fully licensed tracks for $0.89.

Rhapsody uses WM-DRM for rentals, but now they've moved to using only Helix DRM for purchases. Helix DRM is just encrypted AAC, similar to Apple's FairPlay DRM.
No one has yet broken Helix DRM, which could be why other stores are merging with Rhapsody.

Hey everyone,
I've done some reading and I've found a few posts in various places where people have the same problem as me, but I can't seem to find a solution. I had drmdbg and decryptit working fine for DRM removal of 11.0.6000.7000 on my old computer (running XP SP2). I have recently purchased a new computer because my old one died. Anyway, this new machine is running Vista home premium on it. The problem I'm facing is that drmdbg doesn't give me the keys for my songs to load into decryptit. The box next to "clear" remains blank. Has anyone found a way to make this work. I've seen some posts that say people have got it working on vista, but I did everything they say they did and it still doesn't work for me. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Purchased Rhapsody tracks can be burned to CDs. You can rip them using a regular CD ripping software or a virtual CD burning software like NoteBurner.
Still music subscription services are forced to offer music for PlayForSure devices, so they are forced to offer DRM-protected WMA tracks. And unfortunately DRM removal tools work fine with rented WMA files.
Considering the above mentioned and the fact that many music download services started offering DRM-free music, the switch to Helix DRM is not obvious.

Hi everyne,
I'm having problems using drmdbg under XP.
When I open it, the first box fills crrectly with 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM\Cache\Indiv02.key v11.0.6000.7000', Media Player opens correctly, but I have no DRM2.key created.
I guess I made something wrong, but what ?
Thanks a lot

Holy crapsicles!
That works for me! The only thing that would make it nicer is if I wouldn't have to right click on each track as it advances and click "find album info" since DRMDBG adds each file to the playlist individually. Not sure if someone can modify/make a program for that, but for now, I'm quite happy.

ugh... help!!!
I was using WMP10 and had no problems but was forced to upgrade to WMP11 and now of course problems
I am getting "requires a different private key" when attempting to convert any file. I have verified that the files do play within WMP11 so that part works
I ran the mirakagi file, and tried both FUWM files below with same error

WMP11 11.0.5721.5145

I'm still of the Fairuse religion, so I'm eagerly awaiting the day when Viodentia posts the lates Fairuse update.
However...the genuis that figured out the whole "Find Album Info" deserves some sort of reward. I thought I had tried everything, and that's what finally killed my DRM blues!

That does not give the IBX version just the player...
Check C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM\
Go to tools=> Folder Options+
Click on the View tab...
In advanced settings Scroll down till you see folder labeled "Hidden Files and Folders" Select *show* Hidden files and folders
2 boxes down from that take the check out of the box "Hide Protected OS Files Click YES* then close the window...now you should see the DRM folder and all contents in it... Select the IBX and view properties...

Just wanted to add my experience to the list here.
I'm using Windows XP Pro with all critical system updates.
I had the 01/01/08 version of drmdbg working great with WMP9 and the WMP11 runtimes installed (can't remember why). IBX v11.0.6000.7000. I used freeme2 to do the business.
Then I signed up to 4od and I had to upgrade to WMP10, first uninstalling the WMP11 runtimes.
I could play the files but drmdbg would give the horrible errors readprocessmemory_error and writeprocessmemory_error, several times over. I tried previous versions of drmdbg and it would either fail completely, report the SID but not KID or report neither.
I then deleted my C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM folder, upgraded to WMP11 (from MS site) and did the necessary to individualise the system. Still on IBX v11.0.6000.7000. I can now use the 01/01/08 version of drmdbg again with no errors and freeme2 does the business like it aught to. I did have to get new licenses for the few files I had though.
This may help some people out, it may not :)

I have Windows XP with Windows Media Player 11 (11.0.5705.5043)
and WMV VIDEO file (od11.wmv) with DRM license.
I can play this file.
I would like to remove the DRM from this file.
I have downloaded drmdbg from http://www.sendspace.com/file/67h67o
suggested on http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=130166&page=12
I have opened drmdbg like on http://www.maciejrek.republika.pl
and click on the MultiScan button.
Then automatically opened the Windows Media Player and video file played.
I have downloaded FreeMe2 from http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=205801
suggested on http://undrm.info/remove-DRM-protection/freeme2-freeware-lossless-DRM-remover-for-Windows-Media-WMV-WMA-files.htm
I opened the CMD like on http://www.maciejrek.republika.pl/
and where does "IBX private key" come from?
I made few test with different options and version of programs. Result is on the page and nothing.
