Subtitles Font Size

Hi,
Is there a simple tool whereby I can Increase the size of subtitles font ? I've gone through an article in http://forum.videohelp.com/topic219535.html
that is supposed to tackle this problem, but couldn't make heads or tails of it !
A less complex guide would be much appreciated.

You must tell us more about your subtitles and your AVI files. DivX, Xvid, sthg else? External subs, embedded subs...

Sorry for being so brief ! They are subtitles (sub, srt) for Divx movies that I download and embed into the movie. The font used is so small, I was hoping to find a method to enlarge it.

Among other things you could do, you could always convert them to SSA format subs (SubResynch, which is included with VobSub), and open the new SSA file in Notepad. Near the top, where it says:

[V4 Styles]
Format: Name, Fontname, Fontsize, PrimaryColour, SecondaryColour, TertiaryColour, BackColour, Bold, Italic, BorderStyle, Outline, Shadow, Alignment, MarginL, MarginR, MarginV, AlphaLevel, Encoding
Style: Style1,Tahoma,28,12500670,12369084,12171705,0,0,0,1,2,2,2,30,30,25,0,0

increase the boldfaced number to enlarge the text. The VDub filter will also accept SSA subs as input.

Thank you so much for your help. I downloaded srt to ssa converter and the job was done beautifully. However, despite the fact that Arabic script is displayed correctly in the ssa file, it is displayed in Unicode in the movie. Do you happen to know how to fix this problem.

Try converting with Aegisub to ass (looks like ssa, so you can do the same edit).

No, I'm sorry, but I've only ever dealt with western type alphabets. I'm sure someone else can help, though. Perhaps KoD's AegisSub suggestion will work for you. I don't know.

I did but the problem persists despite my using style editor for re-encoding. I really don't know what I've done wrong, or what I am missing here.

Make sure your font supports Arabic. Set the encoding to 178 (Arabic). If you use Aegisub there is a dropdown box in the style manager to set this.

I guess I should have posted my thread in newbies ! For instance I don't know how to locate V4+ Styles. However, I did find my way to Style manager in Aegisub and picked 178 for Arabic fonts. All I got was illegible Arabic letters (ططط ظظظ) displayed in the movie and not the subtitle text.

Neither srt to ssa converter nor aegisub worked. They do not support Arabic font. However, sub to ssa does. I tried it and it worked beautifully. I am glad I didn't give up, after all !
