When ffdshow is installed H264TS_Cutter doesnt seem to work. When i open any .ts file, nothing happens and program freezes (no cpu usage) and i will have to kill it. I renamed ffdshow folder in programfiles and run H264TS_Cutter again, everything works fine.

If there was not for RipBot264 who use ffdshow to encode to mkv, i would uninstalled it at once, but is there any other way to fix this instead of renaming ffdshow folder every time i want to use H264TS_Cutter ?

has development on h264ts_cutter stopped? I've tried to read their message board, but I don't speak German too well.

I tried this thing and it locks up on loading every stream I tried.

It actually works pretty well for me, have you tried changing:
Option->Settings->GUI[Tab] and checked or unchecked the Use Direct Show-Wrapper(old check box?

Well...the following to remember for all of you guys.

1.) Install Haali Media Splitter
2.) Install CoreAVC(pro) Codec (Or Cyberlink PowerDVD)
"FFDSHOW" is NOT recommended!!!

With this constellation it should really work.
Other faults made with this tool...itīs h264 ONLY!
So no Mpeg2 HD or VC1 Streams will work...might even crash...never tried.
Surely this tool is not the most stable one Iīve ever seen, but with "legal" streams it works really smooth. Tobias wasnīt done with this thing...itīs kinda beta.
One hint I learned myself...if it doesnīt find IDR-Frames it gets impossible to successfully cut ANYTHING until you change the settings in
OPTIONS > SETTINGS > ADVANCED

Further developement...I think I remember having read somewhere here in this forum that "Tobias" the author of this tool has joined a team which asked him to immediately STOP developing his free tool.
Itīs easy to predict this happened for a reason...some commercial software...well see in some future.

There are still some sections that it just can't/won't cut correctly though, they seem to be random. My goal is to do a rough cut out of commercials and then run it through DGAVCIndex and AVCSource to get my captures down to 24 FPS, but if it screws up the cut, it will cause libavcodec to fault out and that just sux when you're 3/4 of the way through an 8 or 10 hr encode. :(

I know the files I'm cutting have an IDR Frame every 128 Frames and for some reason the cutter just won't recognize it, checking CutOut only on IDR frame(under the Options->Setting->TS-Settings[Tab] seems to make sure the cuts it does make will cause the cuts to always start on an I frame, no matter where you set the start position, it backs up and finds the I(DR) frame, which is great.

I know the files I'm cutting have an IDR Frame every 128 Frames I believe you are using Hauppauge HD PVR captures. Did you use Graphedit to set the periodic IDRs? With TME, I get only one IDR at the start of the stream.

Yes, I always set it in graph edit, I don't know why Arcsoft didn't include that in the interface, but yes, it's definitely the Simple GOP selection I've used on the file. Playing around some more with the file, there is a check box to drop useless frames, I just wish some of this stuff was documented instead of trial and error and not knowing for sure what some of the settings are doing.

I'm now editing the problem file and it's not having any problem with the section that it wouldn't work right on earlier.

With this constellation it should really work.. Nope. Both true and it locks up every time.

Don't worry, I'm working on an open source cutter.

Excellent news!! If i understand correctly from this thread (translated by google) (http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.movie2digital.de%2Fthread.php%3Fthreadid%3D46619%26sid%3D7491a7a69fdf4fa8e534b34ff1125562&hl=en&ie=UTF8&sl=de&tl=en) h264ts_cutter development is stopped, and author of this tool is working on similar program which will be commercial.

Any ETA for this new cutter first release (like weeks, months, until end of year)? :)

I'm still in the design phase, although the existing DGAVCIndex infrastructure gives a big head start for implementation. No ETA, sorry.

If it works out for H.264 then the same thing could be done for MPEG2, but it would likely be separate executables.

Let's not discuss this here, as it is OT for this thread.

I've been trying to use Media Player Classic and H.264 TS Cutter v1.11 in conjunction with my Hauppauge HD-PVR files. I have both CoreAVC 1.7 and the latest Haali Media Splitter. Here are my problems:

The preview window plays back fine at first. Until moving around the progress bar at which point the preview window freezes. I can create TS cuts, but obviously they're going to be inaccurate (As I have no more preview footage, I have to use only numbers for the Start and End points).

Any help in fixing this issue or perhaps advice on how properly set up the program would be very appreciated!

If it's of any value, my PC specs are:
Vista Business 32bit
Intel Quad Core Q6600
4GB RAM
8800GT PCI-Express 512MB

The best method IMO, for the time being is opening the file with your favourite player and deciding the start and cut points and finally using TSMuxer for cutting.

I cant get this to show video so i cant make any cuts. It does not lock up on load though.

1) provide a sample video
2) post any errors you recieve, or say that you don't receive any.
3) if no errors, then post a screenshot describing what the incorrect behaviour is.

I can post these things when I get home. Right now, I can tell you that it lets me load the video, I got it to play right and select my cuts. When i have the cuts selected and i press CUT, it gives me an unhandled exception error. I will post screenshots tonight. It says something like cant find GetNextTS() or something.

I never have understood exactly what Cut does, I always just did the set start and set end and then add for my ts editing.

Hmm, well I thought cut made the new file. I dont know what anything really does yet because I havent got anything to work :X I make a lot of cuts. I edit a lot of sports and they have tons of commercials. This is what I did

I moved the slider to where i wanted the cut to start and pressed start, then i moved it to the end of the segment i wanted to cut and selected end. Then i pressed Add and it adds it to the little box at the bottom. Then i did it again for another segment i wanted to cut. I then pressed Cut and boom, errors out. If I am doing it wrong then please enlighten me.

I don't know if you're doing it wrong or not, but what I end up with in the bottom is usually what I'm keeping, I set the start and then set the end and click add, opposite of what I was used to in VideoRedo, but it has worked for me fairly well, can you make a couple of cuts before it bombs out, if you can you can try the preview button and see what the video is supposed to look like around the sections you've cut out.

Whenever I cut a .ts file with h264 ts cutter and then create an avs script to load in Staxrip the encoding fails and there is a message like x264 encoder failed with exit 3 code. I think the error comes up at the same point in every encode, at around 33%.

After I cut the ts file I load it on dga and then create an avs script and then load on Staxrip...
When I follow the same procedure without cutting the file then the encode goes flawless and smooth.

I was having a similar issue with TSPE and Handbrake. What i did was do a quick tsmuxer after i got the cut ts file and then handbrake could recode it

I use GBPVR to record high definition through the Hauppauge HD-PVR. H264TS_Cutter has no problems with loading TS files recorded with GBPVR software. I use it to remove commercials from football games. Then use tsremux to create blu-ray files. Then burn them on a DVD9 disc and watch them on my blu-ray player.

You are correct about this. If you want to re-encode ts files to x264 or xvid, then I wouldn't use any cutting tool for that matter. It's best to encode the file first. Then use mkvmerge (x264, mkv, mp4) or nandub (xvid, avi) to remove the commercials after encoding. If you want go straight to blu- ray or avchd, then H264TS_Cutter is the right tool to use.

To clear things up, for those interessted:

The developer of H264TS_Cutter is working for a german company called http://www.haenlein-software.com which sell a software named DVR-Studio HD where he's one of the developers.
Since the H264TS_Cutter would be in rivalry to DVR-Studio HD he dropped H264TS_Cutter and mentioned in a german forum that DVR-Studio HD for him is some sort of unofficial successor to H264TS_Cutter.
