Hi
EDIT Version 111
A new version of the H264TS_Cutter V108 is available.
System requirement
.Net 2.0 Framework
DirectX 9.c (August 2007 Release)
AVC/H264 Decoder
TS-Splitter (Haali Media Splitter is recommended)
changelog:
New Features:
M2TS as input file supported (h264 codec only)
TRP/REC -> TS converter (use 'Tools' -> 'Convert TRP/REC -> TS').
TRP files are for example used by Clarke-Tech HD 5000-C or Kathrein UFS910 and may be from other PVRs
REC file are used by Topfield Receiver
This feature is not perfect yet because some media player (e.g. mplayer) detect the h264 stream as mpeg2 but for the most players it works fine (mpc, vlc, ...)
improved "drop usless freames"
Fixed items:
more HD channels are supported (e.g. HD Suisse, SVTHD, Digit ALB HD)
use 'Setting' -> 'Advanced' -> set In to 'I-Frame' or 'All-Frame' and Output frame type to 'All-Frame'
(Vista) 64 bit problem fixed: the cutter should work on 64 bits systems, too

Hi, i tried to cut a pal 50fps 720p avc .ts and the output file has video-errors/blocks like a bad signal drop and the original .ts hasn't =( would be great if it's possible to fix this, the tool is accurate and nice otherwise =)

hi
did you try it with deactivated pts recalculation (settings menu)?
that could be a reason because the recalculation is not perfect, yet.
or may be you could upload a small part (20mb) of the original ts.
(you can cut this part with a hex-editor from the original file)

@tobiasm767
I have tried earlier versions of you program with not much luck. I will continue testing your program, but wouldn't it simplify your program/code if you would only support already demuxed streams like Cuttermara and remove the complete TS stuff? Demuxing isn't a problem anymore, I have tried many different streams with xport.

@bergi:
not really because I use the structure of the ts to find out the cut points (timecodes)

not really because I use the structure of the ts to find out the cut points (timecodes)Your cutting algorithm is based on the timestamps of the PCR-PID which is usually the Video-PID? How do you manage to cut the audio PIDs without gaps? I think this PIDs don't include a timestamp in the TS level.
tobiasm767
10th August 2007, 16:19
No it bases on the PTS of the video PID.
The audio PIDs has a PTS, too, but they are only necessary if you are use the "Sync Audio/Video Delay" in settings-menu.

it seems you have not installed a ts-splitter (haali media splitter is highly recommend) or/and a h.264/avc-decoder like core-avc.
if you can play ts-files in your windows media player (not media player classic!) then you also should be able to use the playback function in the h264ts_cutter.

was just about to try without the recalc option, but now when i hit the "Cut" button i get the following error msg'es:
(i can add the cutpoints, add, but not cut that is).
Can't open input file
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Reader close
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
Writer close
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
and same msg'es when using the "preview" button
tried using both ffdshow and cyberlink as directshow decoder =/
any ideas?

@blubberbirne
try the new version V105
xer0z
12th August 2007, 21:11
Can't load any .ts source in the 105 version =(
i wonder if i've installed something bad or something that your cutter doesn't like, it worked some days ago when i first wrote about the errors after cutting =/
when i load i get this:
Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click
Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If
you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
etc.

This happens when in the ts the timecode (pts/dts) are set back to zero.
This is currently a big problem because I use these timecodes to find out the cutpoints.

harissa,
I use TSRemux for cutting and it is very accurate. I check the time (beginning and end) and input these in the program. BTW how do you play your h264 ts captures (PC, stream, ps3...) thanks,

with the new version i can finally load+cut my sources :D
which directshow decoder should i use to get the most accurate cut?
tried with both cyberlink and ffdshow, but i get 1-3 seconds +/- at the cutpoints =(
Must say that this is the best h264 ts cutter so far! i love that
it cut/keeps all the pids like dvbsubtitles etc, great work! keep it up!

@xer0z
be careful if you have installed powerdvd7.
the video decoder of powerdvd7 is great but the splitter returns not the correct timecodes. I think that is your problem.
You should install the "haali media splitter" and your cut points should be more correct.
(if be used the halli media splitter, you can see a new icon in the taskbar near your systemclock)
@harissa
i remux the ts with tsremux018 and cut it with v106 and works fine.
the cutter even crash if you try to cut out on the last frame.

dear tobiasm767"
for using dshow filter to fulfill the work, why not add MPEG4-P2 feature? we are using mpeg4asp/mp2/ts and H264/mp2/ts program and will get some tailor work, but it always failure .... so think about is? add mpeg4 asp tailor function??? just begin at TS layer,,let the compression layer alone?

Nice work, thanks.
I've tried a few versions, working with captures from BBCHD. It's ebbed and flowed in earlier versions, but certainly the last version (I missed a few) works reliably.
The problem I have now though is audio timing. If I use ptscalc to get the ac3 delay on an uncut ts, then use mplayer to demux, then the audio delay is valid and usable. If I use the cutter though and then work with a cut ts, ptscalc always says the delay is 20ms, which it isn't and I have to sync the audio manually.

Thanks for this small but very useful tool, tobiasm767. I'm getting v111 very soon :)
I have some BBC HD (h264) streams that are divided into two/three parts with some extra bits. So currently I use TSSplitter to join them 1st. Then I use h264TS_Cutter.
I was wondering if you could add a 'join' feature. If there is a join feature (, after removing the unnecessary portions,) then the ts will be ready in one single utility and thus making it more useful
Thanks :)

If the option "sync audio/video" is activated the cutter tries to reduce the audio/video delay at the cutpoitns. that is the reason why you get a delay of 20ms in PTScalc.

The Cutter has since a few versions a join function.
If you want to use this feature just load the first TS as usually and set your cut points.
The other TS files you have to load via "Add H.264-TS" and set there your cut points.

Hey nice that you integrated the import-function for trp-files.
very appreciated!
sadly I have to say, that latest tests with V110 werenīt very succelssful, since the cutted material lost it completely.
transcoded output of tmpgenc Xpress 4 looked like fast forward, without being and complete out of sync with audio.
but working with h264 is still young and maybe itīs been the conversation by tsremux which tricked the file.

If you have any problems with tsremux then try to deactivate "Recalculate PTS" in the settings menu of the cutter.

If i experience this problem again, i may contact you.
Since iīm coming from germany too, there will be no language-barriers.
By the way...itīs all about Recordings with my Vantage HD7100S.
Problem occured with a recording of "Pro7" stuff.
But I have "Premiere HD" material too.
Excessive testing will be done before further I suggest any program errors.
Since my Vantage splits the recordings into 1,5GB peaces...how is the behaviour of
that import function in ts-cutter?
does it recognize the other files?
I recorded from TV with my Vantage HD7100S.
It stores the video in files like this:
ANIXEHD 22-12-2007.trp
ANIXEHD 22-12-2007.001
ANIXEHD 22-12-2007.002
ANIXEHD 22-12-2007.003
with that come two more files:
ANIXEHD 22-12-2007.idx
ANIXEHD 22-12-2007.ifo
SD-Recordings (normal PAL) is perfectly worked out with projectx.
You can even work the whole bunch of file (*.00?) like collection without any problems. But as soon as I record H.264 meterial
All my good programs become completely useless.

Just loaded a ts (recording from premiere hd) into the new version. Here is a copy of what the "exceptional error" was about.
I tried a VERY SIMPLE cut (5mins after bebiggning to s mins before end).
Error occured right after i pushed the cut button.
See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

the converter ('Tools' -> 'Convert trp/rec -> ts') will merge all files (including .001, .002,... files) into one TS file.
if you are using premiere hd files then deselect teletext stream (pid 32) in the pid filter.
if the cut out frame on the last frame of the file you get an error if sync audio/video is activated. may be thats the reason for the exception in your second post.

My experience with the import/ trp>TS-Converter:
Iīm accessing the files directly from the USB-DISK Iīm using with my vantage and saving them on my Raid0 Computer-DISK.
Itīs a PremiereHD recording which is 9.580.480K worth on the USB-Disk. As much as it looks the converting will run for about 30mins.
Will try a Computer-Computer convertion as soon as this task is done, to see if itīs TS-Cutter what is working so slow, or if itīs the USB-Access.
Message from TS-Cutter Programm: "The file was successfully merged in 25,61minutes and has a size of 9048,1 megabyte.
Raw-Copying takes 8mins.
By the way...it really works to pick the trp-file (the leading file for the collection). The other Files ...001,002 arenīt shown!
So you canīt pick the wrong files ;)

I've recently gotten one of the Hauppauge HD-PVR units and have been using h264ts_cutter to cut out commercials. I have to select Cut in on I frames to use it and I'm set at use any on Cut out frames. For the most part it works well, but at some of the cut points, it will cause libavcodec to totally crash when playing back.
I have a small sample of the portion with a cut in it that will crash: http://rebkell.net/BadSpot.ts
Neuron2 says: 'It appears that the TS cutter is orphaning frames from their required SPS/PPS's.:
This is the best program I've found for cutting up the h264 ts files and was wondering if there is anything that can be done about this problem.
Thanks.

Is there anyway to navigate in h264ts_cutter and move from IDR or I frames only?
rebkell
10th August 2008, 23:19
Can some explain what exactly the mouse thumbwheel does or how it navigates. I know that up goes backwards and down goes forward, but I'm not sure what it is doing? Sometimes it jumps back several frames and other times it doesn't seem to be doing anything.
I really like this program and I just need some more understanding of the controls and how and what the various controls are doing, I've never found a guide online anywhere.
