How do i put permenate subtitles to avi files?

Hi guys, i am back at the forum nearly after two years lol, I have a question, how do i burn in permenate subtitles to a .avi file without re-encoding it?is there a way? because i have a korean movie with external subtitles, i don't think my standalone dv-383 pioneer plays subtitle files externally.

Hi!

If, as you say, you want to burn them as a permanent part of the .AVI, I believe you'll have to re-encode, using VirtualDub plus the .SSA subtitler filter (or something similar)...

Hi Setarip_old, thanks for your quick help friend, this morning i was struggling with the subtitles also and i came up with a better anwer, I Flashed my DV-383 with new custom firmware which enables me to play external subtitles straight out of the folder. So no need for me to be bothered about the subtitles, Phew, thanks again.

Chances are even before you flashed it, it would have played the external subtitles.

:eek: I Tried that while i was having the original firmware, anyhow it didn't work. after flashing it started working, then again the problem was Subtitles display for a little while then they stop, to get it back working i have to FF>> for about two seconds, then it comes back for about two three sets of subtitles then it goes off. i don't know how to fix this though.
