Dear Readers,

When I watch videos on my computer from my TV.. the Video shows up but the Subs don't.. And on my Computer I can see the subs and yeah this didn't happen before when I didn't format...

And I am not too sure what the problem is... I know it has a little relevance to the SoftSubs as of course if I watch a HardSub they show... Any idea's?

I use 'Overlay Mixer' as that is what worked for me in the past as I have my Monitor 'Cloned' to TV and when I play videos it plays just right. But seems after I formatted my computer... Softsubs don't seem to load up with the Video unless I have one of the VMR's selected, before they would load without me having to switch to a VMR setting... I mean I have both the Video/Softsub named the same so that should allow it to auto-load.

Not too sure if you need any other information as I am not too sure what else is needed.

Just ask if needed.

Thank you

Before reformatting you probably had vsfilter.dll registered. That filter would load itself during playback and it would render the subtitles on top of the video.

What happens now is that you use MPC and it comes with an internal version of vsfilter but it's only used when you set MPC to any of the Renderless modes (and not any VMR mode as you thought).

Just grab vsfilter and register it, or download and install CCCP. (shameless plug)

Maybe... But emm how do you 'register' vsfilter.dll anyway? I have it placed in my System32 Folder... and for Codec I use K-Lite Mega Codec Pack.

You can register it with the command promt or use some tool like Radlight FilterManager. (I think it's on the freecodecs site as well).

Bah... It happened again.. but I didn't format it just suddenly stopped working... And I tried registering the vsfilter.dll from various places with it saying it got registered... but then nothing happens as the subs still don't' show up unless I choose one of the VMR...

switch to overlay, then try using FFDSHOW subtitle filter.

Yeah that is what I ended up doing.. As before without needing the FFDSHOW subtitle filter the subs would appear.. But yeah fixed now using the method you mentioned, thanks.
