Hello all. The last days, I do have a very weird problem with my matroska files. I think that is a general malfunction of my system though, not a problem with any program settings. Here is the story: Whatever filter I am trying to use for displaying IDX/SUB subtitles, which are stored inside the container, (VSFilter, ffdshow subtitle filter, built-in MPC filter), the media player crashes! I have tried with everyone: WMP 11, MPC, TCMP 4.11 and BSplayer 2.14. Firstly, I noticed this problem with BSplayer: I had enabled the subtitles filter from ffdshow and when a subtitle had to be appeared, BSplayer was crashing. That time though, I could "almost normally" display the subtitles in other players, so I thought that there was an issue with BSplayer (it wasn't my favourite player, anyway). The quotation marks above mean that sometimes the subtitles weren't appearing. 3 days before, I noticed that a particular mkv file could display "partially" the subtitles, that is in some parts of the movie it could and in other parts it couldn't. I tried to open that mkv with VLC and everything was fine. I thought that something was going wrong with this particular IDX in DirectShow. But 2 days before, I noticed that exactly the same problem was happening with a second mkv file, so I start thinking that there was a general problem. Very soon, I realized that I couldn't see any subtitles anymore in any DS-based player. Take into account that some days ago I was having a major problem with MPC and VMR9 (after 30-40 seconds of playback my system was freezing completely). I saw that only when I switched to Overlay mixer from MPC's options, my problem was solved and that is why I started dealing with ffdshow's subtitle filter. Now I think that I have a major problem with my rendering system or something (graphics card, overlay etc). I have installed the latest nVIDIA 97.73 beta drivers (for my AGP GeForce 7800GS), but my problem is still here: Whatever player I am selecting to open my mkv files, it crashes at the time of a subtitle display. Note that I don't have that problems with .srt subtitles, for example I see that the green arrow of VSFilter loads and the subs are there, while in IDX case, the arrow loads but no vobsub subtitles! It seems that the subtitles are detected normally, but for an unknown reason they cannot be displayed in overlay mode (in MPC VMR9 they can, but MPC crashes in a few seconds). Is there any tool to check thart my graphics card is working properly? Any help is really necessary and would be greatly appreciated.
PS: Two weeks ago, my system was working properly and every subtitle was being displayed normally. Also VLC shows correctly the subtitles. Finally, the filter graph of the mkv file is normal.
