getting subtitles from DVD files with 2PGCs

Hi everyone,

I am hoping one of you many experts can help this poor boy out. I ripped one of my DVDs and put the DVD folder containing the VIDEO-TS folder on my hard-drive. From this folder, I made a 1.36GB .avi file...using StaxRip, because AGK could not handle 2PGCs.

1st PGC is for 1hr30min, the next PGC is for approx 33 mins. Total size of DVD folder is 4.18gb.

My QUESTION and PROBLEM is this...how do I rip subtitles when there are 2PGCs? I have attempted to try this using VobSub, but only the first PGC gets recognised...I canNOT nor do I know how to get BOTH PGCs together, so I get one COMPLETE subtitle file....

Re-rip the original DVD, using DVD Decrypter in "File" mode - select "Movie only"...

What is the DVD Title and Region?

Movie title is 'Zanjeer' - an old Indian movie.
Region...hmm, I think universal? NTSC format...sorry, I wouldn't know how to find the region code on the DVD...it does NOT say on the box.

an old Indian movie.Then it won't have any special/newer copy protection (ARccOS or RipGuard) - and you should be able to do as I've suggested with no problem ;>}

You told me to rip ONLY the movie files...there were 4.
Now when I start up VobSub, AND look for .ifo/.vob files...it comes up empty...so what now?

the files: vts_01_1, vts_01_2, vts_01_3, vts_01_4 (all .vob files)

1) If, as i suggested, you used DVD Decrypter in "File" mode AND selected "movie only", your files should also include "VTS_01_0.IFO"

2) (I just ripped a DVD in the mode I've described)Both "SubRip" and "DVDSubEdit" recognize and can process the subtitles - so I don't know what your problem may be regarding VOBSub.

You might want to try either of the two programs I just mentioned...

I ended up trying SubRip on the 4 files I mentioned above...and it got fixed. Of course, with this software, the tedious part is doing the Character mapping...the I's and the L's (lower case L's)...do get mixed up...but the font that was used won't differentiate in the video...but for my 1st set of subtitle files, I had to go manually and fix all of them through out the file...no big deal. 2nd set of subtitles for 2nd disc worked great...

Now, I have to work on audio/video synch...see, the problem with these 2 discs...each one of them had 2PGCs...when the DVD was converted to 1.36gb .avi xvid AC3...the last 30 minutes of each file...the audio & video is out of synch...because the 2nd PGC referred to the last 30 or so minutes for each disc...now i need to find software that will FIX only the last 30minutes... :) Thank you for your help...much appreciated...it made ME also try other things...and work at it the hard-way, instead of relying on others...so I thank you for that!

I've worked with Zanjeer before. It's one of the early AB films that propelled him to stardom.

If you already have the entire DVD on the hard drive, open the PGC you want in PGCDemux and demux. That'll give you the subs in SUP format. Open them in a new version of Subtitle Creator and you'll be able to convert them to IDX/SUB format more or less instantly. No OCR involved. No audio problems, either.
