View Full Version : Making extremely small subs bigger using vosub

Hey I am using Vosub in conjunction with Gknot to rip some subs for an avi they come out fine but extremely small. I have tried enlarging them using vosub but nothing happens I am really frustrated and will take any suggestion as to how to go about making them large enough to read. I have never had this problem with any other film.

When you say you tried enlarging them using VobSub, did you mean DirectVobSub? There is an option to set the font size in DirectVobSub under Main -> Text Settings.

Another option is to convert them into SRT format using SubRip and then to use that.

Yeah I mean directvosub and I went under the main= and opened the opropriate idx and then tried the sub file for the movie, Then I set the font size super large and presses o.k and nothing happened .I even tried to rerip the subs with the new larger settings and nothing happened? I must be doing something wrong but I am not sure?

Sub/Idx is a binary (kind of bitmap) format.
It doesn't use any font so I am not sure it is really possible to enlarge them dynamically. This is only possible with text subtitle that are "dynamically rendered".
However you have two solutions to enlarge your subs:
* OCR your subs and make srt (text) subtitles with them. You can use subrip for that. Then you will be able to enlarge them.
* Convert them to .bmp files. Enlarge them with an image editing software that supports batch mode (Irfanview, XnView...). Then convert them back to SUP or SUB/IDX. Search with google for that.

If you move the VobSub line in the GKnot generated .avs to below the resize, then they won't get resized down.

Did you try to open idx file with notepad, and increase scale rate ?
