Convert .sup to .txt

Using PGCDemux I was able to get subtitles from a movie fine, however it is in .sup format , is there a way to convert it to.txt (which Adobe Encore needs)? I tried using SubRip using the different save as\.txt formats but Encore complains about them.

Tried to manually change the properties of the .Sup file to .txt and Encore says it should be a "unicode" file UTF-8 or UTF-16?

Sup is a binary format. Use SubtitleCreator to OCR it. Or if you don't have Office 2003 (needed for the OCR), use SubtitleCreator to convert it to sub/idx (vobsub) and subrip to OCR it.

Have you ever tried placing a letter in a flat-bed scanner and converting it to text? If so, this procedure requires the use of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) software to convert the graphic based characters into text based character.

The subtitle format on DVD's (.SUP or .IDX/.SUB) is "graphic" based and you want to convert it to "text"....

OCR = optical character recognition (or something along these lines) means converting letter images (bmp) as they are stored in the sup file into text. you might want to use either Subrip or SubtitleCreator (make sure you got the latest version) to do that for you.

Open SubtitleCreator's Tools menu, select OCR (requires Office 2003), set the language (optional) and open your SUP file, which will be translated to a text (SubRip's SRT) file.

SubtitleCreator (v2.2 or 2.3rc1) crashes when open this sup for OCR, although they can open it without a problem.

The OCR in SubtitleCreator is based off of your Office install. If you are using a version newer than 2003, then that is why you are crashing.

Thanks for the info. I am using Office 2007. Then I will try it with 2003.
