Graphic format .srt

Hi to everyone.....
..i need your help buddies...
i have the samy dx1100 stand alone divx player that reads the .srt format perfectly with "the same name but the extension" technique....

now i'd like to know if there's a way to change the graphic format of the characters without re-coding the video file....
i mean..may be there can be some sort of "tag" you can include in the .srt file that the stand alone player can read to change the graphic of the characters on the screen...

There is no standart tag for the font in srt files so this is not possible.
However maybe your SAP can accept VobSub files (sub/idx). In that case, you can use SubtitleCreator to generate VobSub files from your srt files. In SubtitleCreator you can control the font and position...

can i also insert a shadow under the characters or any 3d like effects?

Not really. You must know that DVD subtitles can only use 4 colors at a time (this is a limitation of the DVD specifications itself).

However you can use most of the windows fonts so you may find a font that includes a kind of shadow.

It works with many software players (MPC, KMPlayer, ...)

On a SAP, it will depend on the player itself. You must check if your player accepts VobSub subtitles (sub/idx). Some of the recent players accepts them. If your player supports AVI files and VobSub subtitles, no problem. Just put the three files (sub, idx and avi) and it should work.
The sub/idx format is a graphical format that holds an image (bitmap) of the subtitles so there are no fonts problems.

Also, as the VobSub format comes from the DVD ripping world, you will still have the 4 colors limitation even if your video is not a DVD but an AVI file.
