FF/RW SVCD's on a Philips DVD Player? Has anyone figured this out?

@Zoltan
Sorry for the delay...
Yes, I used the same cdr_7.26.zip. Then I burned a CD with both 09980001.015 and download.02a.
In the previous upgrade I used (FW 7.22), I burned the files 07220001.015 and download.02a.
Not compliant DVD: I burned a DVD-R with a frame size of 480x576 (PAL material) and it worked on my 750. (On Pioneer 444 and 350 too...). Of course it isn't standard, so you must use some tricks to author it!

5 days of full agony =))
i'm a totally dvd-svcd newbie... i always watched divx on my pc..
but now i've bought a philips 722 dvd player... and i had immediatly problems with svcd then i read here and i update my firmware to the lastest version.... now i can do ff/rw on some of them (the one shorter than 30 mins) and i've other problems...
1) if i burn the svcd with nero i won't be able to do ff/rw
2) if video is longer than 40 the player says 40 mins and won't play over that min (also if the svcd is longer)
3) with my Athlon 1Ghz converting from divx to mpeg2 get 6-7 hours per cd do anyone of u have a faster solution ? i mean i'd like to have the same quality.. i don't mind if the film get 2-4 cds
but mainly i'd like to solve the problem with ff/rw and with play of longer svcd... i saw here that many of u solved their problems so maybe u can help me to solve mine ... maybe it's just a tmpgenc proble in settings..
thanks in advance to all

We know you're a newbie and probably that's why you forgot to read the sticky messages on the top of this forum (FAQ, how to post a good question etc.)
1) Try the method specified in the FAQ (mount the bin using Daemon tools and onyl copy the CD with Nero) If nothing helps, try re-author the images using the latest VCDEasy. It created rw/ff-able images for me, regardless the length.
2) Well known bug. Some models, such as the Q50, don't do it with the latest FW, but most of then do.
3) Search the forum for CCE encoding speed. You'll see quite similar values. (IMHO you'll never get the same quality from a compressed source.) I know I know DivX is faster (actuall, RT), but one cannot play it on his/her DVD player. By making compromises, you can make it faster: never use deinterlace if not necessary (or you'll watch the product on TV only), don't use tempral smoother (cca 40%). More info, again, in the FAQ.

thanks for helps.. i'll take a look at the faq... dunno what i should search for.. and i'll search for cce encoding too in this forum =)
btw my problem it, apart the slow encoding time, that my dvd player won't recognize that the film is longer than 40 mins and after thoose 40 mins STOP play the svcd and i cannot finish to view the film...
if i should read the faq 'cause i asked of that problem, i know that this question was asked TONS of time.. but i did everything that solved for other people and here didn't solved anything... so i tought since i'm a newbie that i'm doing something wrong..
thanks as usual

pincobeppe,
time display is quite common for Philips players. For stop playing bugs try this forum (http://forum.ianc.net/forumdisplay.php?forumid=6) where Philips firmware are under investigation.
BTW I experienced similar thing (stop playing) only when SVCD had non permanent subs.

@pincobeppe:
1) Forget Nero! Based on my own experience (and mainly my errors....), the best way is VCDEasy for authoring and I-Author for muxing;
2) Never happened to me (DVD750). The time display is not reliable for SVCD at all (or it is off if you have used PBC), but SVCD are played till the end. The latest FW for your player is 4.15V.0. Are you sure to have this one? (In any case, as Zoltan said, may be that Philips guys haven't fixed some SVCD bugs for your player yet...);
3) CCE speed, mmmmm..... , it depends..... I think that a full conversion (2-pass) to SVCD from 720x576/480 materials that takes about 3-4 x RT is acceptable.

There is a workaround: play svcd, open menu go to the latest icon on the right digit some "time" et voila SVCD skip to that minute (works
on 711 at on many philips)

Hi,
I usually insert a new chapter for each minute. That way
- I can jump to any minute I want to
- by pressing the yellow menu button the chapter number shows the correct minute the player is at.
