View Full Version : Problem w SubRip v1.50b4 OCR - IDX/SUB bit-pattern appears interlace 'd ?

Does anybody know what is the source (or fix) of this strange looking subtitle bitmap pattern ? [rather than SOLID character, it has a broken vertical pattern ].

It causes SubRip's OCR inability to recognize & learn whole character.
[ I'm using the latest & greatest SunRip v1.50b4 ]

It happens with ALL *.idx *.sub files from ALL DVDs !

The same subtitle bitmap shows OK with VobSub (e.g. - VobSub's "subresync" util):

On a 2nd look, it looks like SubRip interlace 's SOME of the SUP characters bitmap pattern.

Does this occurs to other people ?

Have you tried changing subtitle colors in rippping? Have you set high recognition (options -> advnaced ocr -> sensibility...?

Higher Sensitivity set, I tried - and it didn't help.

Changing Subtitles Colors - I'll try ...will let you know the result.

Looks like a malformed packet. Try playing with "Use VOB's subtitle map" and "Use ID's file offsets" in "Global Options" (turn them on and off, see what happens).

I'm not sure I fully understand the question.
My input is a pair of *.idx *.sub files.
Whether they are SUP or not' I don't know. I know they are bitmapped subtitles !

What I try to accomplish is OCRing them into a text based *.srt format subtitle.

Looks like a malformed packet. Try playing with "Use VOB's subtitle map" and "Use ID's file offsets" in "Global Options" (turn them on and off, see what happens).

Turning OFF both "Use VOB's subtitle map" & "Use IDX's file offsets" worked !!!

But only after I erased the SubRip.ini file from SubRip home directory [alike starting from a scrath new install ]

Very strange .... but at least it works now !

On a 2nd look, it looks like SubRip interlace 's SOME of the SUP characters bitmap pattern.This sounded like you were referring to a subtitle set in ".SUP" format ;>}

God, I was having the same problem now and was going nuts trying to solve it. This worked for me too! Thanks a lot :-)
