People with AMD CPUs, don't forget to turn off Cool'n'Quiet. With C'n'Q I was used to get 1.2 ~ 1.8 on my Athlon64 3200+, with it turned off, I'm getting 2.3 ~ 2.5 (6h to burn a 3h movie, in 4pass mode).

how do u tell if u have a rebadged CPU ?? LOL *cries*
its says 3GHz but i turned off all AV/spy removal, but it peaks at 0.90;
also i am using the one HDD to do the encoding, maybe if i put the source and temp destination on different HDDs ?
edit: btw, the new sp2 doesnt need the ecl cee ??? i didnt even put in the location to the sp2 exe and it still loaded. Is this correct?

Yes. It doesn't need ECLCCE and if it is installed correctly, DVD-RB will find the path in the registry.

Just to recap here guys: My system seems to be doing 1,000 frames per min at a stated speed of 0.70
So a 8Gb disc might have 300,000 frames at 5 hrs
Are you guys getting 2.5 hrs or the 90 min ???

an 8gig dvd to 4.3gig dvd using DVD-RB Pro and CCE SP2 1.0.0.10 trial set to 2 passes with standard settings (but using Auto-Q2 matrix for low and very low bitrate), the encoding part takes me 70 minutes.

Those numbers sound pretty decent for your processor -- so in your case it may not be a factor.
You were write jdobbs, I turned off webroot spy sweeper and trendmicro A.V and the speed is remains the same.
How ever I did notice that DVD's in 4:3 format encoded in 2.4 speed, while 16:9 movies vary between 1.85-2.1 .

@Voodoochild
16:9 usuallly uses more of the frame in comparison with letterboxed 4:3. If we're talking fullscreen 4:3 the speed should be pretty much the same.

does anyone know if the much fancied Gigabyte 8KNXP motherboard with the 875P chipset has anything in the bios that slows it down minimise heating etc??? shuts off the CPU that kinda thing?

I would think you should ck. what temps your cpu and mobo are operating at.P4's will slow down when they exceed the overheating threshold - probaly around 68-70 deg.C They won't shut down until reaching a critical threshold, Ithink in the 130 deg. range
If I read the tech sheet right on mine (p4 3.02) the slow down can approach 50%
I just recently was looking for some info with everest home ed.
and was surprised to see my cpu temp at 45-50 deg. at idle, so I loaded up RB and when the encoding started the temp rose quickly to the 80's and settled at around 88-90.
while I clean my case fans 4 or 5 times a yr. I had forgotten to ck. between the cpu fan and heatsink which turned out to be covered with dust and lint. After cleaning the idle temp is now 28-32 and under 100% load 48 -49 C
Previously cce was running at 1.9- 2.4, now I'm getting 2.5-3.10
depending on the source. Fans mounted directly over the sink seem more likely to trap dust ect.
I wouldn't suggest removing the fan to clean if needed, unless your comfortable possibly reinstalling heat sink
