For what it's worth, I think scripts and plugins are different and should not be lumped together, but instead grouped by subcategory, exactly as Fizick argues, but some page needs to collect every known function/filter/script/built-in by category, but not manually.

The handmade existing filters is useful as long as not everything has a wiki entry, so that at least you have the names of many unlisted filters to start an investigation. A living page that collects the contents of each category live will be preferred in the long run; I forget how to do that in Mediawiki.

Was merging scripts & plugins not your idea, foxyshadis? The wiki thinks it is :) My memory says it may have been Clouded...

Anyway, I still think it's helpful for newbs. If they're looking for a sharpen filter, no reason XSharpen and LimitedSharpen should be listed separately.

If we use the automatic [[Category]] feature for subcategories (e.g. source, color transform) then we need to agree on a list of subcategories before we start.

You mean something that could automatically group Category:Source_filters and Category:Color_filters and [...] onto one page? I don't think that is possible. (If it is, that would be great!)

What you can do is put the [[Category]] directive on subcategory pages. So Category:External_filters would have links to Category:Color_filters and so on.

Subcategory is right solution,
even if we will use different subcategories, but same Category.

So, for YLevels may be:

and for Color correction subcategory:

I think it's fairly good. Anything we need to change before we begin? Keep in mind similar subcategories like "Restoration\Chroma correction" vs "Adjustment\Levels" don't necessarily have to be combined. ColorMatrix should be added to both subcategories; YLevels should not be.

@Fizick: maybe we need two separate hierarchies. How about:
