View Full Version : How do I add subs to video stream itself?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I've tried searching for an answer without any luck.

I have an .avi file (XviD) and an .srt file. I want the avi file to include the subs in the video itself, i.e. NOT as a selectable subtitle track in the container.

I guess the movie will have to be recompressed, but it's just a short clip, and the quality is unimportant. Just want to make sure the text is always displayed.

How do I do this? What tools are needed?

VirtualDub and TextSub (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Subtitles/VobSub_2.23.exe) filter from Gabest.
Video >> Filters >> Add >> TextSub

Thanks, I got it working now, but...

VLC crashes when I try to run the file (tried 0.8.4a and 0.8.5). One of those the memory could not be "read" things. It works fine in Media Player Classic though.

Any thoughts? Anything else I can try?
