.mkv subtitle removal

I've got a bunch of anime files in mkv format.
They're all in english, but so are the subtitles.
Is there some way I can remove the subtitles without messing up the picture or audio?

I'm still somewhat of a newb so take it easy on me...

use MKVExtract Gui to extract video and audio and then join them using avimuxgui or virtualdub.

That's backwards. Easier to open in AMG or MKVmerge/mmg, deselect the subtitles and then save.

I got it to work by installing MKVMerge and the MKVExtract "plug-in" (if that's what you wanna call it) and opening the files in MKVMerge.

Half of the files worked like a charm.
The other half is working but I've got an issue with it.

All the original files were setup like this:

main title/intro = a japanese language song with japanese subtitles.
main movie = english dialog with english subs.

I removed the same track from all the files, but half of them now play like this (this is how I want them to play):

main title/intro = japanese song with english subs.
main movie = english dialog with no subs.

The other half are like this:

main title/intro = japanese song with japanese subs.
main movie = english dialog with no subs.

Any chance of correcting the latter to run like the former?
I've tried removing different subtitle tracks in every combination I can think of. I still end up with the same thing.

Could the japanese subs be "hardcoded" to the intro in such a way that I can't remove them?

You can extract the video stream only to see if it is hardcoded or not.

Depending on the show, some anime do have jap subs hardcoded on the opening/ending songs, so this is quite normal. A few screenshots should tell.

You try logo removal filters if you really need to remove it.
