New version of CCASDI (Closed Captioning tool)

For those who are using CCASDI from the SCC_TOOLS package to convert back and forth between the SCC and CCD formats, I've been alerted to an error that has been there for a long time, resulting in captions that could not be displayed on a TV. I've fixed the tool, and it can be downloaded here (http://www.geocities.com/McPoodle43/SCC_TOOLS/ccasdi.exe).

Note that there was no problem with using CCASDI to convert captions into subtitles (which is what I suspect most people use this tool for)--you only need this fix if you are actually adding closed captions to DVD's.

What was the particular error? How does it occur? I've been using CCASDI for years to go back and forth between .SCC and .TXT and I haven't really noticed anything wrong.

I use the resultant .SCC file to import into DVD Maestro.

The caption bytes didn't follow odd parity. DVD Maestro might be willing to take this, but the stricter closed caption decoder will reject any even-parity byte as static and will display solid block characters instead.
