When opening a .srt subtitle file within SubtitleCreator, is there a way for it to tell you what fps the sub file is set for?

Also, when I want to do a conversion of framerates by going to \Synchronize\Convert Frame Rate, does it automatically put in the original fps in the From field, or do you set the From and To fields manually? And under \Formatting\Video Format (PAL/NTSC) does that fill in auto as well? Or do I need to set that manually BEFORE I do the frame rate conversion?

srt uses hh:mm:ss,mls (where mls=milliseconds), so as with audio there is no such thing as 25/29.97 (23.976) fps.

In that case there would never be any way for SubtitleCreator to know what it was originally because it only uses timecodes yes?

That's right, although if the srt was ocred from DVD source and the timecodes were unchanged, the millisecond intervals should provide the answer. In the case of PAL they'd be divisible by 40 (1000/25).

Hi,

Normally, if you use a srt file, there is no need to convert the subtitles framerate because, as Matthew wrote, the srt file uses the absolute time which should be quite the same for NTSC and PAL.

The frame rate conversion function of SC is more here because of the sub format that SC can also import and that uses frame number to tag the subtitles. In this case you have to convert frame rates between NTSC (29.97 fps) and PAL (25 fps). Many sub files use the first line to write the original frame rate.
