I've been looking for information recently here, and have had to do many searches.
so what i would find INCREDIBLY helpful is a sticky dedicated to some of the following:
1) quick descriptions of formats (support styles and positioning)
2) main programs to create with (this generally goes with conversion, but specificly like subrip to create from vob, virtualdub vobsub plugin to create idx/sub from vob)
3) programs for conversion between formats (<program name> converts srt/ssa/ass to sub/vobsub/bmps...)(this is what i'm really looking for right now, i don't know what i need to be able to convert to the format i want)
then at least for 3, people would have a great place to post links to small programs they wrote to automate some specific conversion or anything like that, or links to tutorials for programs or threads about developing programs...
for example the sticky on how to 'convert srt to son and vobsub' there could be a link to that thread in it, and then a link to the newest version of the macro program that is mentioned in that, as well as the 3 step guide in it...
this sticky would be a lot of work, but i know i would find it endlessly useful
