View Full Version : ARccOS Subs Out of Sync!

The way I normally back up to XviD is with AutoGK %75 with AC3. I then Use VSRip to rip all the subs on the disc. I have come across a few ARccOS disks recently and to get the files in IFO Mode with DVD Decrypter I have been running AnyDVD in the background. Every single one of these rips has badly out of sync subs. I can manually sync the ENG ones but not the other languages. Anyone know of a way around this? I tryed RipIt4Me but it always goes to file mode in DVD Decrypter..

Thanks :P

The psl plugin of PgcEdit has a solution to this...
Plugins-->PSL2(ARccOS)-->Tools-->Display Pgc starting time (SCR)...
This will give you the exact delay of the sub stream, in the protected pgc..

Then manually sink all the subs tracks?

To bad and cant use the psl plugin to rip in file mode :(

Yes...
...but why sync all the sub tracks?
You only need one, don 't you?

@LordTrace

Hi!

Since there have been many posts regarding "ARccOS", AutoGK, and audio synch, I'm curious to know if you have audio synch problems, as well, with these same rips?

@LordTrace

Hi!

Since there have been many posts regarding "ARccOS", AutoGK, and audio synch, I'm curious to know if you have audio synch problems, as well, with these same rips?

Useing AnyDVD and DVD Dec together then AutoGK outputs an avi that has the audio and video in sync for me so far (i watched the lips of many parts of each movie to test. Then asked my girlfriend to do the same). I have tryed Underworld Evolution and Memoirs Of A Geisha and only the subs are out of sync .. its easy to re-sync the eng subs by just looking at them but i need to keep them all

DVDFAb decrypter is free and far more easy to use.
I have no probs whatsoever........

If you read my first post youll see that i'm not ripping the subs with AutoGK :P

Don't know much about autogk but I know this:
1) I rip my movies with decrypter or dvdfab
2) I shrink them with freeware progs or Nero(sometimes) or, when I need quality, dvdrebuilder (free version) since I have a 2.50 CCE license
3) I don't have any issues of "out of sync"
Usually You may find a flag in the first cell of the movie(use pgcedit to point it out) if Arccos is involved(this before you shrink). I believe this may be the cause of your trouble. Maybe autogk doesn't "take care" of this flag and so causing the problems, I don't know, but I promise you, no probs will be found if you use the latest progs to shrink. I don't use autogk 'cause I like to keep the dvd as dvd and keep as much quality as possible. Since this seems to be an issue related to both audio and subs reencoded to xvid I suppose it's acceptable to think autogk is the prob.

I rip the subs with VSRip and the subs are my only problem.

I just tryed ripping Ultraviolet with RipIT4Me and im now encoding it .. When thats done I will rip the subs... *hope this will work*

And yea i have zero problems shrinking the dvd .. but i use 75% XviDs for my HTPC

Well...make up your mind:D
But again, if you don't succeed try PGCedit to point out the flag BEFORE You use autogk

This isnt what I use man .. The post above it sugested it and I was only stating that I have tryed it and when I use it not only the subs are out of sync but the audio as well. If you read my first post is says I use DVD Dec and AnyDVD to rip as its the only way i know how to rip ARccOS in IFO mode. Then rip the subs with VSRip. The audio/video is perfect with this method but ALL sub tracks are insanly out of sync. And yes I know you can manually sync them but its a pain in the ass.. Plus ......

.... dont work for me with IFO ripped vobs :(

I will try PGCedit if this RipIT4Me dosnt work. I wish there was a way to rip in IFO Mode and use PGCedit

LOL the avi that AutoGK produced from a RipIt4Me rip dosnt even play!

You can rip in IFO mode without AnyDVD, by manually un-checking the protected and tiny cells in DVD Decrypter...
Most of the times the protected cells have a different VOB id form the main movie...
It 's not hard to identify them...

Take a look from this post and down, for an explanation why this is happening with AutoGK...

I didnt fully understand all that lol but i tryed and DVD Dec just failed. My audio is fine with AnyDVD and DVD Dec in IFO Mode .. Just the subs are super out of sync .. to most people this isnt a big problem and you dont normaly need subs at all .. and if you do you just keep the forced subs. But since I keep them all its a real pain in the ass to have to sync them all. And pretty hard to test the languages you dont understand for good sync heh

PgcEdit guide looks like my only option .. going to take forever tho :( .. im on the first "pass" with DVD Dec and its going to take over an hour to finish :( then you have to rip again!

*sigh*

But since I keep them all its a real pain in the ass to have to sync them all. And pretty hard to test the languages you dont understand for good sync hehIf you don't understand the subtitles, why is it important for you to retain them?

Its hard to explain really. Its just the way I have done it for years. Plus I would just really like to know how to properly rip these dvds in IFO Mode to stay away from any other potential problems.

Plus I would just really like to know how to properly rip these dvds in IFO Mode to stay away from any other potential problems.I have nothing to offer you on this problem but, with regard to resynching:

Presumably, all of the subtitles for one rip are out of synch by one consistent period of time.

If the subtitle format is one that is accepted by "subresync.exe" (part of the "VOBSub" package), it will take you all of about 5 seconds to resynchronize each one (by adjusting the initial start time)...

LordTrace
3rd July 2006, 03:10
Yea I know how to do that and thats what I thought to .. I did Underworld Evolution and the Eng subs where very easy to sync... but the French .. I just used the same start time for them and .. well .. didnt work out so good heh.

setarip_old
3rd July 2006, 03:21
I just used the same start time for themDid they all initially show the SAME start time? If not, you should be adjusting each subtitle stream by the same amount of time (e.g. adding 15 seconds to the indicated start time), rather than adjusting to the same absolute start time.

You are (as you initially indicated) definitely talking about subtitle streams extracted from the same DVD, aren't you?

Maybe another member can provide some additional insight...

Good point. Yup all from the same dvd. I will try that.. If there is no real way to rip IFO Mode. Wich im guessing there isnt.... :(

Thanks :P

What I find really weird is that I can make a perfectly working DVD5 (subs in sync) out of any of these and when I rip the subs out of that they are still out of sync :( lol

setarip_old
3rd July 2006, 17:28
There's nothing "weird" about that. Making a DVD backup is a very different procedure (and uses different tools)than ripping and converting to a different format - and MERGING subtitle streams into that format.

Have you as yet tried my suggestion?

LordTrace
3rd July 2006, 20:07
Yea I did and yea it works but id still like to learn how to rip these protected discs in IFO mode properly

The reason i think it is weird is that i only have this problem with these protected dvds .. When i remove protection and create my DVD5 iso its not protected in anyway yet the subs ripped from that rip end up being exactly the same as the subs ripped from the files ripped with DVD Dec in IFO Mode with AnyDVD running behind it.
