How to Get Precision in Subtitling ?

Hi.

I'm always use SSA for timing subtitles and I'm very satisfied with the results. But, I'm wanna get more precision when I'm doing my subs.

Note: the timing are given using 10 miliseconds by precision.

I wanna find a program ( freeware, if it's possible ) able to get some kind of precision above:

It seems that SSA can only precise using 10 by 10 miliseconds each time, not only 1 milisecond by precision as I want to get.

Do you know if I can change this using SSA?

Or suggest some other program that can time using audio bar feature and get very 1 milisecond precision for timing?

First of all, what's the frame rate of the video? If it's under 90 fps, ssa would work just fine.

Well, I generally use to work with 23, 25 and 29 frame rate sources.

But my main question is about the program that can time using 1 milisecond precision, like professional tools does.

SSA can do it until 10 milisecond by 10 miliseconds. But, I'm wanna find some program that can give me the milisecond units.

Sabbu, Aegisub and Xombie use to work using 10 miliseconds by standard in timing, I think.

There is a way to get such precision using some freeware program?

At 23.976fps, 1 frame is 41ms. Therefore, it's pointless to time with "more" accuracy, because it will still show up at the same frame. The same is true for the other framerates you mentioned (33ms at 30fps). Your request makes no sense, hence it's not implemented in timing applications that output ssa.

Well, for initial timing, I only use audio for reference, not using any video source.

And when I time only music sources, without any video (clip) for reference, I only time using audio, not FPS for guide me.

I only use video ( in movies or clips ) for avoiding bleeding scenes or precise the timing according the scenes, not staying too much on the screen or not going so fast too.

For timing very fast dialogues, I miss some kind of precision. Using 10 by 10 miliseconds give me nice timing, I know.

But I really wanna find some program that can go beyond that mark and give times between 1 milisecond by 1 milisecond.

And in some cases, the units can help between fast speeches or very close lines, without gaps in the voices.

I use to work with srt format, instead SSA, because my main goal is just about timing itself, not the visual effects that SSA give to us ( in these field , SSA and similar formats are very nice and flexible, I think ) .
