If they can’t connect to the internet then the only movies they can play are MPEG1 and maybe wmv7 videos. They might also be able to play DVD’s and MPG2 files if their computer came with a DVD player. If they can’t connect to the internet I doubt they have a DVD player though. To me content that can not be shared over the internet effectively is useless.

x264 for the time being.. although on some scenes xvid or snow seem to do better (foggy scenes) :sly: ... but untill wavelet codecs get better, I'll stick with x264.

AVC baby. x264 all the way. I was one of the first to jump on the x264 bandwagon when it was still rev 40 or somethin' like that. VFW forever.
Ok x.264! Now I have downloaded MeGui .... It is cool! But now I need A complete guide and video profiles for it! Were will i get it?
Well, unless you are dead set on using MeGUI, if you want a nice free x264 guide, check out the one in my sig. At least you can be sure you'll get what you pay for ;)

edit: Oh yeah, for scenes like the fog scenes and other flat or low-contrast areas, use adaptive quantization (the older one). It forcefully lowers the quantization of such areas, effectively eliminating its problems there. Also enable no-fast-pskip. Ya.
