View Full Version : Captions not appearing on burned DVDs??

It seems that there are few experts on this, but you guys are pretty good. I've been using Scenarist to burn DVDs with closed captions (not subtitles), and some of my clients are having trouble viewing them. Even the ones who know how to turn them on inside the TV menu. I know the captions are there, I can see them, but they cannot. Is this a -R/+R thing? Seems if they can see picture and sound, it would not be that. Any idears?

It might be a problem with the user's DVD player. The closed captions on a DVD are stored in the individual GOP header's USER_DATA area, and this data has to be properly placed on LINE 21 when the video is sent to the TV.

I've been putting CC's on DVDs for years, and I've never seen this problem before.
