Subrip and right to left languages

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to extract Arabic subs using subrip 1.3

The problem is that all the lines come out flipped!

Is there anyone who knows how to solve this problem for Arabic Subs and/or any other right to left language?

I only do english subs so not sure if this is what you want, but there is an option under 'Options/Global Options' for 'right2left processing' is this what you need?

It is working now, but the problem is that the OCR thechniques need to be improved more than this. Some letters are connected where they shouldn't and some letters are not connected where they should.

The good thing about it though I find, is it gives you almost total control and you can edit an .srt file in notepad if you need to as well. I recently had some troubles with a DVD back-up and found it very easy to watch the original movie for the subs and look at the 'subtitles text window' to make sure the .srt was correct.

You have to hand it to these guys they do an amazing job for programs like this and especially for the fact that they are freeware with hobbyists (I use this this term very very very loosely) doing all the work and study. My thanks to all of you.

@Rack: The connected letters can't really be helped, especially for Arabic scripts. You may try using the "set colors" feature to separate some of them. The good news is that, once you rip enough subtitles and save the new chars in the same matrix, you may end up with a pretty good char matrix that will work for you, and it won't matter if a character is recognized alone or as part of a group. Oh, and you may want to use the latest version, 1.50.

I'm interested to know if anyone is using SubRip successfully to OCR ARABIC Subtitles? And how they are doing it?

I wondered too. and tried myself after ai4spam's reply above. It worked just fine.

and OCR doesn't know any language. it just memorizes characters shapes for the auto-recognizing them later (thats what i think now after i tried by myself). Just be sure to tick the right to left option and things will be fine. and as for the subtitle view in the bottom of the program the letters are left-to-right. But thats only inside the program. the exported .srt totally fine.
