View Full Version : Weird Subtitle Timecode Mismatches

I have ripped a DVD onto my hard drive and wish to change some of the subtitles. I sued SubRip 097b to extract the subtitles from the VOB files. When I play the title in a true DVD software player the subtitles time codes appear to match where the subtitles occur. However, when I play the VOB file in a player like Windows Media Player or SubTitle Workshop the time codes are far from corresponding to what I'm seeing on the screen.

I thought at first it had to do with 2/3 Pulldown or something, but when I assume that the input FPS is 24 and that the output FPS is 29.97 in SubTitle Workshop, the recalculated subtitles are still do not correspond to where they should be in the video.

Does anyone have an idea what's going on here?

For the situation described here, this problem doesn't really effect me much, but in my real scenario, I am working with a re-edited DVD video and need to redo the subtitles and thus I have a problem since any subtitles I make using Subtitle Workshop will appear to match up in the player, but will not match up in the final DVD that I create...
