automatic vertical position with ANY program..?

HI!
i'm working on an edited subtile file aquired with subrip.
i told the program to keep in info on subtitle position so i should avoid to reset each one manually.
but when rendering the sup with subtitle creator all the image are keept on the bottom.
is that a limitation of the program itself? and in that case wich program should i use instead?

it's no way to automatically adjust sub's vertical position? sub rip seems to not allow this function.
any suggestion?
i have a .srt with vertical sub position specified on it. (many subtitles in the original video are moved at the top to avoid interference with some others text over impressions)
but when processed with subrip all the substream is rendered at the bottom.

Well, how does the .srt file look like? Does it have different vertical offsets for texts that are supposed to show up at the top? If it does, then it's Subtitle Creator's fault for not taking the position into account.

in fact every sub's vertical position is specified. i think i had to select some option or subtitle creator doesn't menage this function... :(

Not sure if this is any help, but DVDSubEdit (http://www.videohelp.com/~DVDSubEdit/) will let you reposition the subs, working directly inside the VOB file (after the mux). It won't do it automatically, but it's very easy (and instantaneous) to reposition subpics or groups of subpics...

Another format that supports this and much more is SSA, but must be edited with the tedious and discontinued SubStation Alpha (http://www.divxland.org/software.php) editor.

(it doesn't support vertical position based txt (or srt) files import)

There are various tools to manipulate ssa scripts, including www.sabbu.com and aegisub.net. For a constant placing, a text editor+search and replace is probably your best friend, though.

thanks lamer.... i think so but a text editor is useless when i cannot import these changes into a program that render my subs..... :/

i don't think anyone understood my problem.. moreover it seem to me very simple (at least in theory)..

Have you tried srt2sup ? to see if it works for you but again then sup has to be modified in ifo edit for color and for some reason sup isnt that bright after using srt2sup. Let me know if that helped.

If not then subtitle creator author should be notified to have it fxed.

In another words for me as jeanl said your problem could of been solved if you fix position subs as you wish in dvdsubedit, after that sup is already created then apply to all subpics and position is assigned. And your problem is solved. If you wish with it you can also reposition certain subpicture with it.


Using Subedit i think your problem is solved and using , just subtitle creator and importing srt to get sup, and then then dvd authoring (with ifoedit or anything) its just an extra step using dvdsubedit :))

EDIT: Ive never expirienced such srt subs yet but maybe you can try also dvd lab pro that authoring software you can import text based subs directly without converting to sup. Try that and see maybe it can import and create dvd directly with positioned subs described in srt.

let's remake my question:
is there a (free) program that automatically import these informations and render back properly into a sup file?
'cause it's very boring to manually re-adjust a number of subs randomly placed into the file...

in fact i made this srt by extracting it with a program that actually i forgot... :confused: sorry for that.. i'll check out.. it's like an option within SubRip i think....

ok...! after text extraction in output format menu i checked: extended format (with picture's coordinates) option..
