Len0x: thanks for earlier clarification of the patch. It works great and thank you for the great program, as it sure beats GK itself without all those steps and complications. It is especially great for occaional users that it is so simple to use.
For those who question the claim of Divx6.1, I applied it and encoded a movie using Divx 6.1 and ended up with a file size of 2.5 GB, whereas using Xvid, the file size was 1.8 GB. Divx was a minute faster, so no significance there. Also, Picture quality seems to be about the same BTW, I use 75% target quality. So I'll stick with Xvid.

FYI 75% quality of divx5 = 60% quality of divx6 (size-wise), so you can't really compare it directly to xvid either...

I've just started using AGK, with DivX 6.1, and experienced the error message. I found len0x's modified DivX.dll, downloaded it, swapped it with the original dll, and everything's copacetic ...AGK is crunching away happily in background while I type this!
I would just like to express my gratitude to (and awe of) len0x. Giving people like you, len0x, make life a lot easier for those of use struggling through videoland.
So... THANKS A LOT!

Hi Grumpy,
For 6.1.1.1031
Change at location: 8B065: From 04 (existing) to 07 (new value)
voila!
Ps In the Future just look for the V.E.R.S.I.O.N _ I.N.F.O info section in the Text part of the HEX editor and this particular byte sits 19 spaces from the O (in info)

Hello Nay,
Thanks for the advice, didn't work for me. I tried it for several hours and still got the same error message "Unsupported codec will use Xvid". Sorry it took me so long to answer your helpful  post. As I explained, doing editing using BIEW editor for me is a scary thing as I have no clue as to what I'm doing. I can follow detailed instructions fairly well, but if I can't get it to work, well  I take the problem to an expert, such as LenOx.
Simply put, I can drive the car, clutch or automatic, but if anything goes wrong, I take it to a mechanic. "A man's got to know his limitations!" Dirty Harry
PS I'm glad someone got it to working using your advice. Welcome to the forum.

Just had to reinstall windows and am running AutoGK no problem - w/o replacing the .dll.
What did I miss, why would this be? Meaning I have divx 6.1 installed as well...

Hi LenOx.
A newbie, I didn't get the Resource Hacker thing at all. I am just wondering: Having installed AutoGK version 2.26, and having just read on the website, that this version has "added support for all DivX versions starting with 6.0.3 build 1697 (plain 6.0.0 is no longer supported)" I still get a message box saying "Unsupported version of DivX is found..." when I try to choose DivX in the advanced settings. I am running with newly installed DivX codec version 6.1.1.
And, I realize just now, having not read the whole thread. Think I will just stick with Xvid....
24022006: Having coded a movie using AutoGK, in Xvid mode, still I get a logo in the lower right corner saying "DivX Movie". Why, when I used Xvid codec? Logo dissappears after a while though...
And, subtitles are missing, both in the Xvid movie, and when I use the preview function, even though they do appear by numbers in the choose subtitle panel. What may be wrong? Read somewhere, that it might have to do with angle, but the movie does not have angles...
Best Regards,
Madibaman

Sigh,, DivX 6.1 works fine in AutoGk here. You sure you read the thread ?
I get a logo in the lower right corner saying "DivX Movie".
The DivX codec is playing back the avi and the DivX manager thing is auto starting and displaying rhe DivX watermark. Seek and ye shall find the options to disable that and more stuff.

I check external subtitles in AutoGK and see if AutoGK is creating the subs
Thx for everything Len0x !! :-)

Easier said than done. I tried to seek, but really what am I to seek? If you have a link, I would much appreciate it.
Does using Divx decoder slow things down, or does it take more cpu power? If so, I can just de-install it since I do not use it to encode.

You don't use Divx to encode or decode. So why are you posting in the DivX thread ?

I responded to the previous poster about the watermark, and that he was told to "seek". My point really is that sometimes "seek" is not easy without knowing what to seek, therefore, a little more help would certainly be appreciated. I do not use Divx, but I tried it, and was left on my pc, therefore, I see the watermark as well. It does not bother me, but just wondering if Divx is faster or slower in decoding a xvid video. I tried to "seek", but did not find any relevant topics, and there are thousands.
I am pretty new to DIVX or Xvid, and got the impression that there is a war between the 2 camps, but I would like to read and understand about these codec. I hope I would not be kicked out by making the wrong comments here.

Hint:- On your machine look at your Divx decode options.

Thanks. It is under Tool Bar.
Another noob question. How do I get my xvid videos to play with xvid decoder instead of the dvix decoder, without uninstalling it? TIA
